In spite of your guide's recommendation to the contrary, Alphinaud insists upon visiting The Forgotten Knight.

Requirements

This quest is available if you have completed the quest Taking in the Sights.

Starting the Quest

Talk to the House Fortemps Manservant in Ishgard to begin the quest.

Speak with Gibrillont

Go northeast to the Forgotten Knight Aethernet Shard and attune to it, then go southeast toward the quest icon on the map. Go through the double doors and down the stairs (if you are tempted to jump down from above, keep in mind that other players use this area for roleplay). Talk to Gibrillont to proceed. There will be a cutscene.

Speak with Edmont

You can optionally go down the stairs to the lower level, go through the double doors there to the outside, and make your way west to attune to the Brume Aethernet Shard, then use it to go to the Last Vigil Aethernet Shard. Otherwise, go back up the stairs and use the Forgotten Knight Aethernet Shard to go to the Last Vigil Aethernet Shard.

Talk to the House Fortemps Guard to enter Fortemps Manor, then talk to Count Edmont. There will be a cutscene.

Speak with Alphinaud

Talk to Alphinaud to complete the quest.

Next Main Scenario Quest

After you complete the quest, there are two quests that you have to do in order to proceed in the story:

• Talk to Artoirel to accept Over the Wall. There will be a cutscene.
• Talk to Emmanellain to accept Onwards and Upwards. There will be a cutscene.
