Eternal Watch Critical Encounter Guide

A guide to the "Eternal Watch" Critical Encounter on the Occult Crescent: South Horn.

How to Defeat Repaired Lion in "Eternal Watch"

Radiant Wave damages all participants.

Aetherial Exchange places orbs throughout the area. The boss will then cast either Ancient Stone III (which places cones with a crackle pattern in them on the ground) or Ancient Aero III (which places cones that have arcs in them that radiate outward from the boss). If the boss cast Ancient Stone III, any solid orbs hovering above the cones will explode in a circle attack after the cone attacks go off. If the boss cast Ancient Aero III, any air orbs hovering above the cones will explode in a circle attack after the cone attacks go off. In other words, keep your distance from any orbs that were in a cone attack and match the element (stone or air) of that cone attack.

Holy Blaze is a line attack in front of the boss.

Scratch is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

The next time the boss casts Radiant Wave, glowing orbs will appear around the area, and two orbs will have proximity attack markers. Go to the edge of the area where you can be as far away as possible from the two proximity attacks. After the proximity attacks, the two orbs that had the proximity attack markers will both perform very large circle attacks, but you will be safe from them if you went to the edge as far as possible from the proximity attacks. The boss will cast Holy Blaze (the line attack in front of itself) after the large circle attacks.

The next time the boss casts Aetherial Exchange, there will be a series of cone attack markers of both types, placed around the area, going clockwise or counterclockwise. Stand in the third safe spot, as far away as possible from any orbs that match the elements of the cones that they are over. As each cone attack goes off, dodge the circle attacks from the matching orbs, and move into one of the spaces where the most recent cone attacks occurred so you'll be far away from the upcoming circle attacks. After this, the boss will again place a series of cone attacks around the area, so dodge it as before.
