The Sil'dihn Subterrane Guide

This page explains how to complete the Variant Dungeon "The Sil'dihn Subterrane".

How to Unlock the Sil'dihn Subterrane

The Sil'dihn Subterrane, a variant dungeon for 1 to 4 players, is unlocked as follows:

  1. Complete the level 90 Endwalker quest, "Endwalker"
  2. Speak to Osmon in Old Sharlayan (X:11.9 Y:13.3)
  3. Begin the level 90 blue quest "A Key to the Past" by talking to Shallow Moor in Old Sharlayan (X:12.0 Y:13.3) and proceed through the quest until the Sil'dihn Subterrane is unlocked.

The Thresholds Three

At the beginning of the dungeon, stand on one of the three glowing spots to proceed.

Left Path

After you defeat several groups of enemies, you reach a Culvert Switch.

You can either interact with the Culvert Switch, or ignore it. Then go west, then north.

Geryon the Steer

Colossal Strike is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

Exploding Catapult damages all players.

Blue Barrels will perform a donut attack, and red-orange barrels will perform a circle attack centered on themselves.

If Subterranean Shudder causes barrels to appear, , there will be a knockback indicator in a random location a moment later. Position yourself to be knocked to a blue barrel, or stand with a blue barrel and use a knockback prevention move such as Surecast, Arm's Length, etc.

If Subterranean Shudder places poison puddles on the floor, , it will be followed by Shockwave, a knockback attack from the center. Position yourself so that you will be knocked into the gap between two puddles.

Colossal Slam is a narrow cone from the front of the boss.

Colossal Launch flips all of the barrels upside down, switching them to the other color. Stand with a red-orange barrel, because it will become blue.

Gigantomill is a spinning + shaped attack. Stand with a blue barrel and wait for its donut attack before you start rotating to avoid the spinning attack.

Colossal Charge places an angled indicator in front of the boss, followed by a knockback line indicator in the direction that the boss is facing. This will knock back any barrels in the line, in the indicated direction, making that side unsafe. Go to the side that the angled indicator is NOT facing, and stand with a blue barrel.

Colossal Swing hits the entire area in front of the boss.

Proceed

After several groups of enemies, you reach a door where you can pick up ore sacks. Be sure to take your Personal Spoils, then choose two ore sacks, then check on a Stone Plinth to place the first sack that you picked, then check on the other Stone Plinth to place the second sack that you picked.

For a clue, unlock survey record entry 10 or 11. Check the Sil'dih Survey Record Unlock Guide if you need more information.

If you just want the answer instead of getting the clue from unlocking one of the survey record entries mentioned above:

If you end up in a room with fluffy white flowers on the floor, you can optionally walk on all of the flowers to turn all of them into harmless wind puddles.

Silkie

Total Wash damages all players.

Squeaky Left/Right is a cone attack in front of the boss that hits twice in front of the boss, then hits in a cone on the indicated side.

Carpet Beater is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

If the boss uses Chilling Suds, it will get an ice-aspected status, and its Soap's Up attack will be a + shaped attack. If the boss uses Bracing Suds, it will get a wind-aspected status, and its Soap's Up attack will be a donut attack, where the only safe area is under the boss.

Slippery Soap is a line attack, that is followed by either a + shaped attack if the boss has the ice-aspected status, or a donut attack if the boss has the wind-aspected status.

Spot Remover places circle attack markers in random locations, which leave behind watery puddles. This is followed by Dust Bluster, a knockback attack from the center. Make sure to position yourself so that you are not knocked into a puddle, or use a knockback-prevention move such as Surecast, Arm's Length, etc.

If Fresh Puff creates a solid line of puff brooms along the edge, , stand close to one of the brooms that is farther away. The brooms will move across the room, but there will be a gap between each line of circle attacks, so if you are near the circle attacks, you will be in the safe gap.

If Fresh Puff creates silken puff puddles on the ground, , the puff brooms will move across the room, and will pause to sweep up the puddles, which causes a large circle attack at the location of the puddle. If you touch a puff broom when it is not sweeping up a puddle, you will be knocked back, damaged, and inflicted with Vulnerability Up status. Keep your distance from both the puff brooms and the puddles, and wait for a gap to form between the puff brooms after they have swept up puddles, and run through a gap between brooms so you are no longer in the brooms' path.

If Fresh Puff creates three puff brooms, the boss will cast Chilling Suds, gaining an elemental status. This is followed by Squeaky Left or Right, hitting some of the puff brooms with the ice attack. The brooms that are hit, and the boss, will all perform a + shaped attack. The boss will turn to face you before these attacks occur, so you can try to position the boss to be in line with the brooms, reducing the area that is covered by the + attacks.

Middle Path

After you defeat the first set of enemies, take your Personal Spoils, then check on the Cistern Switch to proceed.

After the next two groups of enemies, check on the Bulkhead Handle to proceed.

Geryon the Steer

Colossal Strike is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

Exploding Catapult damages all players.

Blue Barrels will perform a donut attack, and red-orange barrels will perform a circle attack centered on themselves.

Colossal Slam is a narrow cone from the front of the boss.

If Subterranean Shudder activates fans along the side of the room, , the fans will eventually pull you across the room in the direction that the wind is moving along the floor. Make sure to position yourself near a red-orange barrel so that you will be pulled closer to a blue barrel when the fans pull you.

If Subterranean Shudder places cannonballs on two sides of the area, , there will also be two red-orange barrels. Make sure not to be in the path of either of the cannonballs, and keep your distance from the red-orange barrels.

Colossal Launch flips all of the barrels upside down, switching them to the other color. Stand with a red-orange barrel, because it will become blue.

Gigantomill is a spinning + shaped attack. Stand with a blue barrel and wait for its donut attack before you start rotating to avoid the spinning attack.

Colossal Swing hits the entire area in front of the boss.

Proceed

After you defeat the boss, you eventually arrive at the Scales of Judgement. Be sure to take your Personal Spoils. There are four available weights: Helm, Gem, Flame, and Fruit.

Right Path

Geryon the Steer

Colossal Strike is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

Exploding Catapult damages all players.

Blue barrels will perform a donut attack, and red-orange barrels will perform a circle attack centered on themselves.

Colossal Slam is a narrow cone attack from the front of the boss.

If Subterranean Shudder turns half of the floor into an unsafe area, , it will be combined with Gigantomill, a spinning + shaped attack. Stand on the side where the boss will be rotating away from you. If you do not, the rotating attack will force you into the unsafe area.

If Subterranean Shudder creates waterspouts under two diagonal quadrants of the area, , don't stand in either of the quadrants where the initial waterspouts appeared. Two more waterspouts will appear after a delay under the remaining quadrants, so after the first waterspouts attack, move into one of the safe quadrants where the attacks occurred.

Colossal Launch flips all of the barrels upside down, switching them to the other color. Stand with a red-orange barrel, because it will become blue.

Colossal Charge places an angled indicator in front of the boss, followed by a knockback line indicator in the direction that the boss is facing. Gigantomill is a spinning + shaped attack. Stand with a blue barrel and wait for its donut attack before you start rotating to avoid the spinning attack.

Colossal Swing hits the entire area in front of the boss, and is sometimes paired with the water spouts, so be sure not to stand on one of the exploding waterspouts when avoiding this attack.

Proceed

After you defeat the next sets of enemies, you reach a Rusty Winch and you can choose left or right.

If you didn't reach a Foreboding Door, click here.

For a clue,

Check on the Foreboding Door and it gives you a riddle. Make a choice.

Shadowless Zeless Gah

Show of Strength damages all players.

If the boss casts Infern Gale, , it causes one of the floating rods to have a spinning indicator and a knockback indicator. This will cause a knockback attack originating from the indicated rod. Stand near the indicated rod such that you will not be knocked into the unsafe area around the edge.

If Infern Brand takes the form of floating squares, , don't be in front of the squares. They will each cast a line attack in the direction that they are facing that covers the entire line that they are hovering over. Infern Brand may also be accompanied by Cryptic Portals that connect to the squares or the fireballs that appeared with Infern Brand. Don't stand on a portal or you will be moved to the location of the square or fireball. The object that is connected to the cryptic portal will swap places with that portal. Avoid being in front of where floating squares will be, and avoid being near where fireballs will be.

Firesteel Fracture is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

If Infern Brand takes the form of floating fireballs, move as far away from the fireballs as you can. Each one will do a large circle attack centered on itself.

If Infern Brand creates thin red lines that are facing in opposite directions, stand behind one.

Pure Fire places circle attack markers under all players.

Cones of Shadow creates alternating sets of cone attack markers on the ground. Each cone will either have a slow-moving indicator or a fast-moving indicator. Stand on a slower cone attack marker, then when the faster cones disappear, move into the safe area where one of the cone attacks just exploded.

If Infern Brand creates thin red lines that are all facing the same direction, you can stand halfway between a pair of red lines to avoid the narrow line attacks that they will do when the boss casts Infern Ward.

Check on the Conspicuous Levers, and choose one to proceed.

Gladiator of Sil'dih

Flash of Steel damages all players.

Right of Might places rings around the boss, and a gauge. The boss will first perform a circle attack in the rings indicated by the gauge, then will perform a donut attack where the only safe area is where the circle attack occurred. For example, if one gauge is filled, the inner ring will be the edge of the circle attack, then the donut attack will hit everything outside of the inner ring.

Sculptors Passion is an unmarked line attack in the direction that the boss is facing. Make sure not to be in front of the boss when it casts this attack.

If the boss casts Columns of Wind, it places four circle attack markers in the area that turn into persistent columns of wind. One of the wind columns will have an upward arrow indicator. The columns that do not have an upward arrow indicator will damage you and knock you back, so avoid them. This is followed by, Shattering Steel, an attack that covers the entire area. Step into the wind column that has the upward arrow indicator to avoid this attack.

, a proximity attack marker will appear in a corner, followed by a proximity marker in an adjacent corner, and so on until all four corners have had one. Move as far away from each proximity marker as possible, rotating to a different corner to be far away from each proximity marker as it goes off. Afterward, the boss will begin casting Shattering Steel, which covers the entire area, but there will be a boulder where each proximity marker was, and one of them will not have cracks in it. Hide behind the uncracked boulder to avoid the Shattering Steel attack.

Mighty Spite is a high damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

Wrath of Ruin makes orbs appear on the edges. The orbs will do line attacks in a grid, followed by line attacks that cover the initial safe areas. Stand in one of the initial safe areas, then move diagonally to the new safe areas after the first set of line attacks.

Rush of Might places a line indicator in front of the boss, and displays a gauge. The boss will rush to the line indicated by the gauge and hit the entire area in front of it, then will turn around and hit the entire area behind it. Stand behind where the boss will rush to, then after its attack, move into the area that it just hit.

Sundered Remains is a series of circle attacks that cover the entire area. Move onto one of the last circle attacks to appear, then when the first circle attacks occur, move into the safe areas that are created by them. This is paired with Right of Might or Rush or Might, so keep an eye on the boss's gauge to determine where to go after you have dodged the circle attacks on the floor.

You may notice a side door.

If Fresh Puff creates puddles and a water spout at one side of the room, , the water spout will knock you in a straight line away from that side of the area (NOT at an angle from the center of the water spout). Make sure there is no puddle in the row that you are standing in, or use a knockback prevention move such as Surecast, Arm's Length, etc.

If water circle attack markers appear and move slowly across the room, , make sure that you are not in their path. Watch for the boss to cast Chilling Suds or Bracing Suds during the water circle attack. The boss will then cast Soap's Up, requiring you to not only dodge the moving water circles, but also to either dodge the + shaped attack if it cast Chilling Suds, or to go beneath the boss to dodge the donut attack if it cast Bracing Suds.

After you arrive and defeat the enemies, take the object that you find in the location.

Spoiler:

Cogwheel damages all players.

When the boss casts Spring to Life, it will raise its arms and create red circles from one hand and blue triangles from the other. Blue triangles will cause the mammets on that side to activate, and red circles will cause the cannons on that side to activate. The active mammets and cannons will all do line attacks, causing a grid pattern of attacks. Make sure to check which side has active mammets and which side has active cannons, and don't stand in front of any of the active objects.

Fore Honor hits everything in front of the boss.

Slashburn is a set of line attacks: a straight red line on one side of the boss and two angled lines on the other. Don't stand in any of these lines.

Signal Flare is a series of circle attacks. Stand on the last circle attacks to appear, then when the first circle attacks occur, move into the safe area that they leave behind.

Blistering Blow is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

The boss will sometimes cast Slashburn with a "swap sides" indicator. This will cause the line attacks to occur on the opposite sides from what is initially indicated. You can stand in the fire line on the boss's side arrow, and you will be safe, because when the attack swaps sides, you will be in the gap between the two ice lines.

Blaze of Glory places two fireballs in the area. Each fireball will do a + shaped attack. You will need to dodge either Spring to Life, Slashburn, or swapped Slashburn while also dodging the line attacks from the fireballs. This is sometimes followed by Fore Honor, requiring you to go behind the boss.
