Monranguin needs you to retrieve some surveying equipment that was left behind.

Requirements

This quest is only available if you started the game in Gridania, you have completed the quest Eggs over Queasy, and have reached level 8.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Monranguin in the Central Shroud to start the quest.

Recover the Equipment

The map and minimap will show a red/orange circle where the surveying equipment was left behind. Go south along the river, into the cave, and you will see sparkles where the equipment is. Interact with each of these (on keyboard, you can press Numpad 0 to target the nearest one, and press Numpad 0 again to interact) and you will gather a piece of surveying equipment. Keep investigating the area marked with the circle on the map until you have found all of the equipment. One piece of equipment is outside, south of the cave. The rest is inside, on top of rocks. Once you have found it all, the next quest destination will be marked with a green checkmark on the map and minimap.

Return the Surveying Equipment

The green checkmark is in a house northeast of where you found the equipment. Go inside and talk to Pauline. Hand over the equipment to complete the quest.

Next Main Scenario Quest

After completing the quest, you will need to be at least level 9 to proceed to the next quest. After you reach level 9, talk to Pauline to accept the next quest: A Soldier's Breakfast.
