Xelphatol - Dungeon Guide

You go to Xelphatol in an attempt to stop the Warriors of Darkness from summoning Garuda.

How to Unlock

The Xelphatol 4-player dungeon is unlocked by the level 60 Main Scenario Quest Shadows of the First.

Nuzal Hueloc

Nuzal periodically hits the player highest on the enmity list with Short Burst.

Nuzal sometimes casts Wind Blast, a line attack.

When Nuzal casts Lift, a Floating Turret appears, and Nuzal floats upward, becoming untargetable. While floating, Nuzal will repeatedly cast Air Raid, which damages all players. The Floating Turret periodically casts Short Blast, inflicting Windburn on players it hits. At the same time, two Ixali Stitchers appear. Kill the Ixali Stitchers.

To knock Nuzal down, kill the Floating Turret, then stand in the whirlwind under Nuzal. The turret will cast Hot Blast when it dies, which will knock all players upward. If a player is standing in the whirlwind beneath Nuzal when they are knocked upward, Nuzal will be knocked down.

After Nuzal is knocked down, two Airstones tether to him, making him invulnerable. Kill the Airstones to remove his invincibility.

Nuzal will sometimes attack with Long Burst, which inflicts Windburn.

Eventually, Nuzal floats upward again, and this time, the Floating Turret is protected by Airstones. Kill the Airstones first, then kill the turret and stand in the whirlwind under Nuzal as before.

Arrive in the Tlachtli

As you proceed through the next area, beware of spikes on the floor. Stepping on them will inflict Stab Wound and Vulnerability Up statuses that can be removed by moving away from the spikes.

You will be blocked by an Imposing Gate. Kill enemies until one of them drops a Bone Key. A player must pick up the Bone Key. Once the Bone Key is picked up, any player can open the Imposing Gate.

Afterward, all players should enter the lift, and a player should use the Lift Lever. (If using Duty Support, your allies will rejoin you on the other side even if they do not enter the lift.)

Dotoli Ciloc

The edge of the area will be surrounded by spikes. Avoid standing on these or you will be inflicted with Stab Wound and Vulnerability Up. Move away from the spikes to remove these statuses.

Dotoli sometimes casts On Low, a cone attack in front of her.

Dotoli sometimes uses On High, which knocks back all players. Be sure to stand against a wall to avoid being knocked into the spikes, or use a knockback prevention move such as Surecast or Arm's Length.

Dark Wings marks a random player with a circle attack marker that follows them, then afterward marks another random player with a circle attack marker that followed them. The marked players should move away from other players to avoid overlapping them with their circle markers.

Stormcoming marks one of the walls with a circle attack marker. This leaves a persistent whirlwind against that wall. This is followed by another Stormcoming, so there will be two walls with whirlwinds against them. When the knockback attack occurs, position yourself so that you will not be knocked into either of the two whirlwinds.

Dotoli sometimes casts Swiftfeather, gaining the effect of Haste, which causes her On Low cone attack to be cast instantly, so make sure not to be in front of Dotoli when she casts Swiftfeather.

Eliminate Impeding Enemies

In the next area, a Warballoon will periodically appear at the northwest platform. Kill the enemies make an Airstone appear. A player needs to pick this up. Once it is picked up, any player can interact with the Tailwind Relic on the northeast platform. Then all players should step onto the whirlwind to proceed.

In the area after that, watch for the Warballoons that periodically appear at both the west and the east platforms. Kill all enemies present to make another Airstone appear. As before, a player needs to pick it up. Once it is picked up, any player can interact with the Tailwind Relic on the northwest platform. Then all players should step onto the whirlwind to proceed.

Tozol Huatotl

Tozol periodically hits the player highest on the enmity list with Ixali Aero.

He periodically casts Ixali Aero III, which damages all players.

He periodically casts Hawk, which will either mark players with green circles, or mark players with a stack marker. If marked with green circles, players should spread apart to avoid overlapping each other with their circle markers. If marked with a stack marker, all players should stack together with the marked player to share the damage from Ingurgitate.

He periodically casts Ixali Aero II, a line attack at a random player.

Sometimes Tozol will stand on the large green circle on the west side of the area, then summon Garuda, who is untargetable. The first time this happens, there will be a large donut attack around the edge of the platform. Tozol will target players with circle attack markers that follow them. Garuda will also target a random player with Mistral Song, a large cone attack. The cone attack will occur after the circle attacks go off. Avoid overlapping other players with your circle, and stay out of the cone attack.

The next time Tozol summons Garuda, there will be a larger donut attack around the edge of the area, and a circle in the middle, leaving only a small safe ring around the center circle attack marker. At the same time, players are marked with circle attack markers that follow them. Avoid overlapping other players with your circle, and stay out of the donut and circle attack markers.

Garuda will say "The reckoning comes" and will then hit all players with Aerial Blast.

Subsequent summonings of Garuda will alternate these two attack patterns.

Completing the Quest

Defeating the boss will complete one of the quest objectives for the Main Scenario Quest Shadows of the First. There will be a cutscene. This one is important, so it is recommended to watch it either now or via the Unending Journey in an inn room.
