Worthy of His Back - Quest Guide

This page explains how to complete the level 87 Endwalker quest "Worthy of His Back".

This quest is available if you have completed the quest Witness to the Spectacle.

Starting the Quest

Talk to Venat in Elpis to begin the quest.

Survey the Area

Go southeast to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. Go to the southeast part of the orange circle and check on the sparkling Vantage Point. There will be a cutscene.

Speak with Venat

Go west to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. There will be a glow around Venat, indicating a solo duty. Check on her and the duty will ensue.

Solo Duty: Worthy of His Back

Venat's target ring will be a solid line instead of an arc; attacks that normally do more damage when performed from a certain position will not have a damage bonus during this battle and can be performed from any direction.

Kleos is a high-damage attack.

Circumzenithal Arc hits the entire area in front of Venat. Quickly go behind Venat to avoid it. She often casts this after attacks, so keep watching her cast bar so you can run to the safe area each time.

True Blink sends copies of Venat to one edge of the area, each of which will cast line attacks across the length of the area. There will be two small safe areas to the sides. Stand near one of the Venats at the end of the line of Venats, and you can move into the safe area from there.

Circle of Brilliance places a circle attack marker around Venat, and also creates a number of directional circle attack markers around the edges. Find a gap between the directional markers, then make sure to move out of the path of any approaching circle attacks.

Mousa's Mantle switches Venat's weapon to chakrams.

Epea Pteroenta is a wide cone attack from Venat, followed by another one to the left or right of the first, followed by a third one to the left or right of the second, covering the whole area. Stand on the last cone attack marker to appear, then move into the safe area left behind after the first attack goes off.

Parhelion creates three narrow cone attacks from Venat, as well as a spinning indicator. Go into one of the safe areas. Venat will then create a large circle attack marker around herself. Move out of the circle marker, then rotate as needed to avoid the spinning cone attacks. The circle attack marker will then be followed by a donut attack marker around the circle, followed by another donut around the first donut. You will need to dodge these circle and donut attack markers while also spinning to avoid the cone attacks.

Magos's Mantle switches her weapon to a healer's cane.

True Aero IV places many wind orbs in the area. They will repeatedly place circle attack markers around themselves.

Afflatus Azem will mark you with a directional circle attack marker, and there will be circle attack markers on the ground that follow you. Keep moving while keeping your distance from the wind orbs.

True Holy is a knockback attack from the center. Find a position that will not knock you close to any wind orbs, or use a knockback-prevention move such as Arm's Length, Surecast, etc.

True Stone IV places a large circle attack marker around Venat, then a series of circle attack markers around the edge. Stand on the last circle marker to appear, then move into the center as soon as the center attack has gone off.

Venat will become untargetable, and a Venat's Aether gauge will appear. Thelema orbs will appear around the area and will start moving slowly toward Venat. Circle attack markers will appear in random places throughout the area. Dodge the circle attacks while you attack the Thelema orbs as quickly as you can. Venat's gauge will increase if any of the orbs reach her, so always focus on destroying the orbs closest to her.

Eventually, Thelema Agape orbs will start to appear as well as the Thelema orbs. Prioritize destroying the Thelema Agape orbs, as they will increase Venat's gauge more than the Thelema orbs if they reach her. If multiple orbs are getting close to her, you can use multi-target attacks to get rid of more than one at a time.

After the orbs are all gone, Venat will pull you to the center and bind you, then will attack. The strength of her attack will be higher the more orbs she absorbed. If you survive this attack, the duty will be complete. There will be a cutscene.
