This page explains how to complete the level 83 Endwalker quest "Strange Bedfellows".
Requirements
This quest is available if you have completed the quest Alea Iacta Est.
Starting the Quest
Talk to Lucia in Garlemald to begin the quest.
Aether Current Quest
After you begin this quest, you can start the blue quest "In Pursuit of Power" in Garlemald. Completing that quest will attune you to an Aether Current in this area. The Ceruleum Engines for this sidequest are at the southeast edge of the orange circle, in the eastern building in the orange circle, and near the west edge of the orange circle.
Speak with Alisaie
Go northeast to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. Use the Aether Compass on the way to find an Aether current north of the train station in the middle of Garlemald. Continue going northeast to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. Talk to Alisaie to proceed. There will be a cutscene.
Speak with Sabinianus
Go south into the tunnel and continue going south to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. You can now attune to the Aetheryte. Afterward, talk to Sabinianus to proceed.
Speak with Caeso
Go to the quest icon and talk to Caeso to proceed.
Aether Current Quest 2
After you speak to Caeso, you can start the blue quest "Children Are Our Future" in Garlemald. Completing that quest will attune you to an Aether Current in this area.
Speak with Flavius
Enter the northeast train car and talk to Flavius to proceed.
Speak with Alphinaud
Exit the train car and go to the southeast train car. Talk to Alphinaud to proceed.
Optional Aether Current Quest
Go north to exit the train station. If you choose to do the blue quest at the entrance to the train tunnel, you will find the Azure-haired boy . For instructions on avoiding being seen:
First, hide behind the large chunk of metal behind and to the right of the boy. Then after he turns a corner, hide behind the nearby red chunk of metal. After that, hide behind the square column. You will need to go around to the other side of the square column when he turns to look around it. After that, hide behind the bus that is lying on its side. You will need to go around to the other side of the bus when he turns to look around it. After that, when he has gone far enough away, jump over the car to the left of the bus and hide behind the tree. Then he will stop.
The blue quest will also bring you close to an Aether Current. You can reach it by going to the south end of the highway and going up the slope. Then you can go north to reach the Aether Current.
Survey the Designated Locations
When you are ready to proceed, go to each of the orange circles on the map.
At the southeast location, defeat the Wild Saiga that attacks.
At the location west of that, battle the Tempered Imperial until he kneels down on the ground, then target him and use the Conqueror's Chain from the Key Items section of your inventory, or you can target him and use the icon to the right of the quest name in your list of active quests.
At the location west of that, check on the sparkling Destination.
At the location south of that, battle the Tempered Imperial until he kneels down on the ground, then target him and use the Conqueror's Chain from the Key Items section of your inventory, or you can target him and use the icon to the right of the quest name in your list of active quests.
Speak with Thancred
Go to the quest icon and talk to Thancred to proceed.
Speak with Lucia
Go west to where the orange arrow is pointing in the minimap. Talk to Lucia to complete the quest.
Aether Current Quests
With the completion of this quest, you can now start two blue quests, each of which unlocks an Aether Current in Garlemald. The quests are as follows.

Next Main Scenario Quest
After you complete the quest, talk to Lucia to accept the next quest: In from the Cold.
