This page explains how to complete the level 80 Shadowbringers duty, Matoya's Relict.

How to Unlock

Matoya's Relict, a 4-player dungeon, is unlocked by the level 80 Main Scenario Quest Like Master, Like Pupil.

On the Way to the Clayclot Cauldron

At the entrance of the dungeon, check on the Earthy Portal to proceed.

When you encounter Sonny of Ziggy, he will sometimes cast Jittering Jounce, targeting a random player with a line attack that follows the targeted player. The marked player should move close to Sonny to minimize the size of the line attack and make it easier for other players to avoid it.

Mudman

Hard Rock is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

Petrified Peat places large circle attack markers in the area. Each one will have a floating orb over it. After that, Peat Pelt will place a marker over each player's head, tethering each player to an orb. When this occurs, look for the swirling drains outside of the battle area and aim your tether at one of them. Make sure not to put other players in the path of your tether. If you aim the tether correctly, the tethered orb will land on one of the drains and be removed from the area. If not, the tethered orb will launch itself back at you, dealing damage.

Brittle Breccia is a growing arc attack originating from the boss. You can avoid the attack by standing behind the boss, or by moving into an area where an arc attack has already occurred.

Stone Age damages all players.

Later, when the Petrified Peat attack occurs, some of the drains outside of the area will be blocked by mudmen. Don't aim your tether at the blocked drains, or the mudman in the drain will throw your orb back at you, dealing high damage.

Falling Rock targets a random player with a stack marker. Unmarked players should stack together with the marked player to reduce the damage of the attack.

On the Way to Clearnote Cauldron

Back at the entrance of the dungeon, check on the Watery Portal to proceed.

Nixie

Crash-Smash is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list. There will be four icicles that tether to the player targeted with this attack, and other players need to make sure not to be in the path of any of these tethers.

Shower Power causes three of the pipes next to the area to light up. Don't stand in front of any of the glowing pipes or you will be hit with a line attack from them.

Pitter-patter creates a cloud platform above the area. Water spouts in the area will launch you into the air. Players must go to a water spout near the cloud platform to be launched onto it. Once players have reached the cloud, they should defeat the Unfinished Nixies on the platform as quickly as possible. Players who do not get launched onto the cloud platform and are still standing in the area below will be hit with a high-damage attack.

From now on, when the boss casts Shower Power, players will also be marked with circle attack markers that follow them. Players should spread apart from each other to avoid overlapping each other with their circles, while also making sure to stand in front of the pipe next to the area that is not glowing.

Shower Power may also be combined with waterspouts on the ground that knock players into the air. Make sure not to stand in a waterspout or you will be knocked into the path of a line attack.

Crash-Smash may also be combined with circle attack markers that follow all players except the target of Crash-Smash, requiring them to spread apart from each other while also avoiding being in the path of the tethers.

On the Way to Kilnfire Cauldron

Back at the entrance of the dungeon, check on the Fiery Portal to proceed. Along the way, your path will sometimes be blocked by lava. Just wait for the frog to open the way. At the end, check on the Interstice Portal to return to the starting area.

Mother Porxie

Tenderloin damages all players.

Huff and Puff places a knockback indicator over the area, while also marking the area with a donut attack. Stay near the boss while also being in line with the safe area of the donut attack, and you will be knocked into the safe area.

Meat Mallet places a proximity attack marker on one side of the area. Players should move away from the proximity marker to reduce the damage.

Barbeque places a damaging area directly in front of the boss, and the boss will continuously pull players toward it. Players will need to keep moving away from the boss to avoid getting pulled into the unsafe area, but they will also need to dodge line attacks and circle attacks from the debris being pulled across the room. Anyone who gets pulled into the area in front of the boss will be killed by "To A Crisp".

Minced Meat is a high-damage attack on the player highest in the enmity list.

Eventually, the boss will become untargetable, and an Aeolian Cave Sprite will appear. Players must defeat it as quickly as possible to minimize the "Mother Proxie's Magic" gauge that begins incrementing during this phase. The sprite will continuously target random players with line attacks. As soon as the sprite is destroyed, it casts Explosion, which launches all players into the air. This will allow you to see the boss's secret location, along with a knockback indicator moving away from the boss. With the knowledge of the boss's location, you should move to the area where the boss is hiding so that you will be knocked back into the safe area of the donut attack when the boss falls down from above.

Open Flame marks all players with circle attack markers that follow them. Players should spread apart from each other to avoid overlapping each other with their circles.

Completing the Quest

Defeating the boss will complete one of the quest objectives for the Main Scenario Quest Like Master, Like Pupil.
