After you pass through the Motostoke Outskirts, you are ready to face Kabu in the Motostoke Stadium.

Motostoke Stadium Gym Mission

When you are ready, talk to the person behind the counter to begin the Gym Mission.

From where you start the mission, there are three areas of grass.

If you go into the southwest area of grass and walk up to the Vulpix, you will be paired with Gym Trainer Darren, who has a level 24 Rolycoly. The Rolycoly will use low-damage moves, such as Rapid Spin and Tackle, sometimes hitting your pokémon, sometimes hitting the wild pokémon. You will get 2 points if you catch the Vulpix, or 1 point if you defeat it. You can use any of the pokéballs that you have with you. If you catch the Vulpix, you get to keep it.

In the southeast area of grass, there is a Sizzlipede northeast of the trainer. You will be paired with Gym Trainer Elle, who has a level 24 Salandit. The Salandit will use moves such as Fake Out and Sand Attack, sometimes hitting your pokémon, sometimes hitting the wild pokémon. You will get 2 points if you catch the Sizzlipede, or 1 point if you defeat it. If you catch the Sizzlipede, you get to keep it.

In the north area of grass, there is a Litwick to the east of the trainer. Yuo will be paired with Gym Trainer Chaka, who has a level 24 Sizzlipede. The Sizzlipede will use moves such as Fire Spin and Bite, sometimes hitting your pokémon, sometimes hitting the wild pokémon. Bite is super-effective on the Litwick. You will get 2 points if you catch the Litwick, or 1 point if you defeat it. If you catch the Litwick, you get to keep it.

As soon as you reach 5 points, there will be a cutscene, and you will proceed to the battle against Kabu.

Gym Leader Kabu

Kabu has a level 25 Ninetales, a level 25 Arcanine, and a level 27 Centiskorch. During the battle, you can Dynamax your pokémon by pressing the Dynamax button to the left of your pokémon's moves. Your pokémon will stay Dynamaxed for 3 turns. You get 4320 Pokédollars for winning.

You get the Fire Badge, which allows you to catch pokémon of up to level 35. You also get TM38 Will-O-Wisp, and a Fire Uniform.

After you exit the stadium, there will be a cutscene.

At Poké Marts, you can now purchase Repels.

Go to the Northern Wild Area

Feel free to catch pokémon in the Wild Area. When you are ready, go east from the stairs that lead up to Motostoke, then go north across the bridge. Keep going north, and look for the Pokémon Nursery off to the side. When you talk to the Pokémon Breeder at the front door of the building, you add that location as a Flying Taxi destination.

Keep going north and approach the person at the base of the stairs with the dragon-shaped opening. There will be a cutscene.

Go up the stairs to enter Hammerlocke.
