After you kick Team Rocket out of Silph Co., you can challenge the Psychic-type trainers of Saffron City Gym.

Get Into the Gym

Before you are allowed into the gym, you have to have at least one pokémon that is level 45 in your party. If you don't have one, you might want to explore Route 12 and Route 16 now that you can use the Poké Flute to wake up the sleeping Snorlaxes. Each time you wake up a Snorlax, you have to battle and defeat it within 5 minutes. After that, you can try to catch it.

Battle Trainers

Once you get into the gym, step on the teleporter to the north. Afterward, if you step on the southwest teleporter, you can battle Psychic Johan, who has a level 41 Slowbro and a level 41 Kadabra. You get 1968 Pokédollars for winning.

If you step on the northeast teleporter from here, you will go to a platform that has four teleporters (one in each corner). Step on the southwest teleporter to go to a platform where you can battle Channeler Stacy, who has two level 40 Haunters. You get 1600 Pokédollars for winning.

Afterward, step on the southeast teleporter to go to a platform where you can battle Ace Trainer Amanda, who has a level 42 Jynx. You get 4200 Pokédollars for winning.

Then step on the southeast teleporter to go to a platform with three teleporters and no trainers. From here, step on the northeast teleporter to reach a platform where you can battle Channeler Imari, who has three level 40 Haunters. You get 1600 Pokédollars for winning.

Step on the northeast or southeast teleporter to go to a platform where you can battle Ace Trainer Cameron, who has a level 41 Kadabra and a level 42 Kadabra. You get 4200 Pokédollars for winning.

Step on the northeast teleporter to go to a platform where you can battle Psychic Preston, who has a level 41 Hypno. You get 1968 Pokédollars for winning.

Step on the northwest teleporter to go to the final platform, where you can battle the Gym Leader.

Gym Leader Sabrina

Gym Leader Sabrina has a level 43 Mr. Mime, a level 43 Slowbro, a level 43 Jynx, and a level 44 Alakazam. You get 7040 Pokédollars for winning.

After the battle, you get a Marsh Badge. This increases the maximum level at which traded pokémon obey you. You also get TM33 Calm Mind.

Step on the southwest teleporter to return to the exit of the gym.

Your next destination is Route 16.
