List of Minigames

A list of the minigames you can play in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, including the Shooting Gallery, Bombchu Bowling, the Fishing Hole, and more.

Deku Scrub Target Practice

In the Lost Woods, you will find a wooden target hanging from a tree. Once you get the Fairy Slingshot inside the Deku Tree, hit the exact center of this target three times to get a bigger Bullet Bag.

Repeat-After-Me Skull Kids Game

Near the Deku Scrub Target Practice minigame (see above), you find a fallen log. If you have the Fairy Ocarina, you can stand on this log to make two Skull Kids appear, then use the Ocarina and they will invite you to play their minigame. Play the same song that they play. Keep playing the game and there will be more notes to the song each time. You get rupees the first two times you win, then a Piece of Heart the third time, then 20 rupees each time you win after that.

In Hyrule Castle Town Market as a child, and in Kakariko Village as an adult, you can play the Shooting Gallery game, where you try to hit rupees with the slingshot (as a child) or the bow and arrow (as an adult) to win prizes. The pattern of rupees is fixed if you play the game as a child, and it's random if you play as an adult. If you win as a child, you get a bigger bullet bag, and if you win as an adult, you get a larger quiver. After that, you get 50 rupees each time you win.

Bombchu Bowling

Bombchu Bowling can be played in Hyrule Castle Town Market as a child after you complete the Dodongo's Cavern dungeon. The one-time prizes you can win are a Piece of Heart and a bigger bomb bag. The repeatable prizes you can win 50 rupees, bombs, or Bombchus. You won't know what prize you'll be trying to win until you pay to play.

Dampé's Heart-Pounding Grave-Digging Tour

In the Kakariko Village graveyard, between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, Dampé will run the Heart-Pounding Gravedigging Tour. You can talk to the soldier at the entrance of the village to find out the current time. Pay Dampé 10 rupees to dig in dirt piles around the graveyard. Make sure that he is standing on the edge of a dirt pile when you ask him to dig. Don't ask him to dig the same spot twice in a row; wait for him to go all the way around before asking him to dig at that spot again. The longer you play, the more likely it becomes that he will dig up the piece of heart, so don't give up. Keep playing and you will get it eventually. Make sure to bring at least 70 rupees to give yourself a better chance of getting the Piece of Heart before you run out of money.

The Five Frogs

In Zora's River, you will see some frogs underwater at the end of a fallen log. Stand on the end of the log and use your Ocarina, and the frogs will jump out to listen. After you learn the Song of Storms in the game, play it to get a Piece of Heart. Play other songs to make the frogs grow bigger and get 50 rupees the first time. After all the frogs have grown to full size, you can play a butterfly catching minigame to get another Piece of Heart, but only after you have played them the Song of Storms.

Zora Diving Game

In Zora's Domain, you can go down a corridor near King Zora's throne to find a Zora at the end of the tunnel. Talk to this Zora and you can play the Diving Game. After the Zora throws the rupees down below, jump off the edge to dive. Press the dive button to go underwater to collect the rupees. If you collect them before the timer runs out, you can go back to the Zora at the top of the waterfall to get your prize. The first time you win, you get the Silver Scale. After that, you just get rupees if you win.

The Fishing Hole

In Lake Hylia, you can find a building at the edge of the lake where you can play a fishing game. In the original N64 version, if you got the Stone of Agony from the House of Skulltula for collecting 20 Gold Skulltula tokens, and if you connect the Rumble Pak accessory to your N64 controller, your controller will rumble when you are reeling in a fish. To use this feature in the Nintendo Switch Online version, make sure you have controller vibration turned on in your Nintendo Switch settings.

Talk to the guy behind the counter to pay to play for an unlimited amount of time. Catch a fish that is 4 or more pounds heavier than the current record fish (which can be found in the fish tank next to the owner), then talk to the owner to win a prize. If you're a child, you get a Piece of Heart. If you're an adult, you get the Golden Scale.

There is an illegal lure known as the Sinking Lure that you can find hidden in the Fishing Hole. It can be found behind a rock near the crack in the wall where water streams out, or near the three poles in the water, or on top of the curved log underwater, or near the outer wall in a spot near some lilypads by the water's edge. The lure is invisible, so you just have to walk on the correct spot to find it. A dialog box saying "Wow!" will pop up when you find it. If you use it, the owner will know that you cheated and won't give you a prize if you break the record with it. If you choose to get rid of it, you will have to leave and go back in (and pay again), then search for it again in the locations listed above to find it.

Find the Super Cuccos

After you wake Talon up at Hyrule Castle, you can go to Lon Lon Ranch in the middle of Hyrule Field to find Talon in a house. Talk to him to play the Super Cuccos minigame. He will throw three Super Cuccos into the room. Pick up cuccos until you find the Super Cuccos. If you find them all before the timer runs out, you get a bottle of Lon Lon Milk, and you can keep the bottle after you drink the milk.

Treasure Chest Game

At night, you can play the Treasure Chest Game in Hyrule Castle Town Market. After you pay to play, you can open one of the two chests. If you find the key to the next room, you can continue on to the next room. Keep doing this to try to reach the treasure chest at the end. The first time you reach the final room, the chest contains a Piece of Heart. After that, the final chest contains rupees. You can use the Lens of Truth to cheat and see what's in each chest.

Dampé's Race

As Adult Link, go to the Graveyard in Kakariko Village. Walk to the graves along the left wall. Pull back the grave that has flowers in front of it and drop into the hole. Inside, walk forward and Dampé will challenge you to a race. He will drop flames along the path that will hurt you and stop you briefly if you hit them, so watch out. If you are careful, you can use the flames to follow Dampé's path. None of the correct paths have rupees on them, so if you are on a path with rupees, you have gone the wrong way. When you reach the room where Dampé stops, he gives you a chest containing the Hookshot. Take it, then exit. Play the Song of Time next to the blue block to get out.

If you challenge him again and reach the end in under a minute, you get a Piece of Heart. This becomes easier after you get the Longshot later in the game, because you can use the Longshot on the torch at the end to quickly reach the finish line.

Horseback Archery

The Horseback Archery Range is located in the Gerudo Fortress area. You need to rescue Epona before you can play. The first time you get at least 1000 points, you get a Piece of Heart. The first time you get 1500 points, you get a bigger quiver.

Lon Lon Ranch Obstacle Course

After you rescue Epona as an adult, you can talk to Malon to play the obstacle course. If you win in less than 50 seconds, a cow will be delivered to Link's house in Kokiri Forest. As with any cow in the game, if you have an empty bottle, you can play Epona's Song in front of the cow to fill the bottle with Lon Lon Milk.

Running Man Race

In Gerudo Valley, in the carpenters' tent, adult Link can meet the Running Man and challenge him to a race to the bridge in the entrance of Kokiri Forest. The Running Man will always beat you by one second, but your best time will be recorded in your house in the Kokiri Forest.
