After departing from the land of Magicant, you reach the town of Merrysville.

Back to Podunk

If you want to go back to Podunk, just go northwest along the streets of Merrysville until you can go west. From there, keep going west until you cross some bridges and find a dirt road. Go west from there to find some houses. Then you can go north to go back home. That way, if you are carrying too much stuff, you can drop it off with Minnie. You won't need the Sword or the Ocarina for a while, so give them to Minnie. Then you can go back to Merrysville by going east from the northern houses of Podunk.

Explore Merrysville

Back in Merrysville, talk to the guy between the hotel and the department store to get a Phone Card. You can use it to get 50 free phone calls on pay phones. It disappears after the 50th use.

Feel free to shop in the department store. Make sure to keep your Boomerang, though.

Then you should check out the southeastern building with the pink door. This is Twinkle Elementary School. On the lowest floor, there is a nurse who will heal your HP (but not PP) for free. On the next floor, there is a room with a couple of presents. The upper present contains a Slingshot, and the lower one contains a Plastic Bat. If you got a Boomerang in Magicant, then don't equip the Slingshot or Plastic Bat, because your Boomerang is stronger. In the room to the right of the room with the presents, don't talk to the girl in the lower-left corner, because you will catch a cold if you talk to her, and the only way to cure it is to see a doctor.

Try to go upstairs. You will find that it is locked with a padlock. Go down to the lowest floor and go into the rightmost room. (You won't be able to go in if you haven't tried going up the locked stairs.) This is the janitor's room. Talk to the janitor. When he says kids can't be allowed upstairs, say Yes. When he says that it is horrible that his wife won't pack lunch for him, say Yes. When he asks if you think that she is a terrible wife, say No. When he asks if you want tea, say Yes. He will take you up to the roof.

If you go to the bottom-left, you can see a view of Merrysville. If you go to the top-right, you see a view of a tall mountain. Then you also notice that the trash can is shaking. Talk to it a couple of times. This must be Lloyd. When he asks you not to tell anyone that he stole explosives, say Yes. Then if you talk to him again, he says he wants a bottle rocket from Sweet Little's Factory. Maybe you should go get one.

This is a good place to use Bread to turn it into Crumbs. Once you get a rocket for Lloyd, you can warp right back here. If you have no bread, you can get some at the Department Store in town.

Go south from Twinkle Elementary and you will eventually reach Sweet Little's Factory. Go inside.
