Collecting Seashells

In the Game Boy version of Link's Awakening, there are 26 Secret Seashells hidden around Koholint Island. After you get the Power Bracelet, you can go to the Seashell Mansion. If you have 20 or more Secret Seashells and you go to the Seashell Mansion, you will get the L2 Sword, which is stronger than the L1 Sword and can shoot sword beams when you are at full health.

Requirements: Sword

Go north of the Trendy Game in Mabe Village. Cut the bush that is four columns to the right and four rows from the bottom to find a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Shovel (200 rupees)

After you have 200 rupees, you can buy the Shovel from the Mabe Village Shop. Use it in the bottom-right corner of the doghouse in Mabe Village to find a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Roc's Feather, Shovel (200 rupees)

After you have 200 rupees, you can buy the Shovel from the Mabe Village Shop. Go east from the Key Cavern entrance and go up the stairs, then go west. Dig the square inside the four spots of grass to find a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Richard's Five Golden Leaves, the Roc's Feather

After you get the five golden leaves from Richard's Villa, go down the stairs in his Villa and take the left path, then push the rock into the hole and jump over it to reach the chest, which contains a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Power Bracelet

In the southern part of the Mysterious Forest, there is an area blocked by a rock. When you get the Power Bracelet, lift that rock and open the chest to get a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Exactly five Secret Seashells

When you have exactly five seashells, go to Seashell Mansion (in the northeast part of Ukuku Prairie). When you go inside, you get a Secret Seashell if you have exactly five seashells. If you have more than that, you can't get this seashell.

Requirements: Bombs (buy in Mabe Shop after completing Level 2: Bottle Grotto)

Go into Tail Cave and find the room with a cracked wall. Bomb the cracks and go inside to find a chest that contains a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Sword, Power Bracelet

Go one screen east of the Seashell Mansion and cut the bushes to find a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Power Bracelet, Shovel

This Secret Seashell is near the graveyard. Go east from Mabe Village to a screen with a warp hole. Go north from there and you find a rock at the top of some stairs. Lift that rock and go north. Go north again to reach Syrup's Hut. Jump over the gaps and go west. Lift the rock that you find in this area and go down the stairs. At the bottom, cut the bush and use the shovel to dig where the bush was. You will find a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Power Bracelet

Go south from the Kanalet Castle entrance until you reach an area with donut-shaped stones. Go south and you will see a boulder next to some of the donut-shaped stones. Lift the boulder to get a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Exactly ten Secret Seashells

When you have exactly ten seashells, go to Seashell Mansion (in the northeast part of Ukuku Prairie). When you go inside, you get a Secret Seashell if you have exactly ten seashells. If you have more than that, you can't get this seashell.

Requirements: Power Bracelet

This seashell is easiest to get if you have the Roc's Feather and Pegasus Boots, but you can get it as soon as you have the Power Bracelet. Go south from the Kanalet Castle entrance until you reach an area with donut-shaped stones. Go south through that maze until you reach water, then go west and into the cave. Follow the path through the cave, then when you are outside, go south until you reach a Telephone Booth. Go east from there to find a bush. Cut it with the sword to get a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Power Bracelet

Go to the screen just before the Animal Village, then go south until you can't go farther south, then go west. Go north up the bridge and you will find an owl statue. Use the shovel to dig the ground to the left of the statue and you will find a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Power Bracelet

Go north from the Animal Village to find the Southern Shrine. After entering the shrine area, go south, west, west, north, and east to reach an area with four armos statues. In this screen, make the southeast statue move, then go down the stairs that it was standing on. Open the chest down below to get a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Ocarina, Power Bracelet

Go to the northeast corner of Yarna desert, then go southeast until you reach the southeast corner of the desert. Lift the boulder that you find there. A Secret Seashell will come out.

Requirements: Power Bracelet, Roc's Feather, Shovel

Go south from the Kanalet Castle entrance until you reach an area with donut-shaped stones. Go south through that maze until you reach water, then go west and into the cave. Go west, then bomb the west wall of the cave to open a hole. Go through, then jump over the pit and go up the stairs. Go west, then push the upper block to the left into the hole. Jump over the hole and go west. You can push the third block from the bottom. Push it to the right, then push the one above you up. Exit the cave. Go north and use the shovel to dig up the spot that is one square below and to the left of the owl statue. A Secret Seashell will come out.

Requirements: Power Bracelet, Pegasus Boots

Go east from Mabe Village and lift the rocks that block the path to the east. Go south from that screen until you find the Telephone Booth. Use the Pegasus Boots to dash into the tree to the right of the Telephone Booth. A Secret Seashell will come out.

Requirements: Pegasus Boots

Go one screen west of Tail Cave and dash into the tree with the Pegasus Boots to knock a Secret Seashell out of the tree.

Requirements: Complete Angler's Tunnel, Help the Ghost

After you help the ghost go back to its grave, go into the ghost's house, which is east of Toronbo Shores. Lift the bottom right pots to find a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Flippers

Go east from Toronbo Shores, past the ghost's house, and jump over the three holes using the Roc's Feather and Pegasus Boots. Continue going east to find an island that you can swim to that has a bush on it. Swim to the island and cut the bush to get a Secret Seashell.

Northeast from the entrance to Key Cavern, there is an island with a bush on it. Swim to the island and cut the bush from above to make a Secret Seashell come out.

Go east from the house in Tal Tal Mountains to find a chest that contains a Secret Seashell.

Go to Tal Tal Mountains and go east along the shallow water. Swim across the deep water and keep going east. Go into the cave at the dead end. Go through the cave and you will emerge on a cliff that has a chest on it. Open the chest to get a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: Hookshot, Power Bracelet L2

While in the Face Shrine, go northwest of the dungeon to find stairs. Go up the stairs to find a chest that contains a Secret Seashell.

Requirements: The Flying Rooster

When you have the Flying Rooster, go to Kanalet Castle and go west just before the castle drawbridge. Use the Rooster to fly over the pits, then go down the stairs and open the chest there to get a Secret Seashell.

In the Eagle's Tower dungeon, after you kill the Hinox, jump into a hole along the west or south wall, then go north until you find a chest. Open it to get a Secret Seashell.
