After rescuing Nome the snail, and the King of the Mountain of Souls, you get the Silver Stone and go to the Laboratory.
Go to the door and check on it. The door can talk to you. It tells you about the Zantetsu Sword, which has the power to destroy metal monsters. Zantetsu (斬鉄) is Japanese, and it basically means iron-cutting. The door says to find another door to let you into the room with the sword. The door opens. Go through it, then go west to find the stairs. Go down.
Basement of Laboratory
Go north along the purple pipe to find crawling Metapedes. If you stand next to one, it will jump from side to side. Clear their lair to reveal a path to the east.
Go east and you will find Pig Warriors. They move around randomly, then will stand still and spin around, then shoot water bubbles at you. Clear their lair to release a Great Door. Now you can go back upstairs and go through the door that you just released. Open the chest there to get the Zantetsu Sword. This sword can only be used if you are level 16 or higher.
Kill Metal Monsters
Now that you have the Zantetsu Sword, you can go back to places that you have been to before that had metal monsters. Please see the Metal Monster Locations page for help finding all of the metal monsters that you couldn't kill earlier.
Return to the Basement
Now that you have the Zantetsu Sword, go back into the basement of the lab. Go north up the purple pipe, then go east. Walk onto the narrow purple pipes to the east to find some Metapedes. They can jump from pipe to pipe, so be careful. While you fight Metapedes, you might encounter Metal Copters from the lair in the southwest. There are also Metal Cars to the southwest that can come over and hit you. Kill the Metapedes and open their lair to create a pipe leading to the Metal Car lair. Kill the Metal Cars and open their lair to release a cat.
Go southeast and stand on the pipe northwest of the Metal Copter lair to kill the copters, then clear their lair to create a new section of pipe that has a new Metal Copter lair. Kill these new Metal Copters, then open their lair to create a new section of pipe with a Metapede lair on it. Kill the three Metapedes (one of them is to the north) and open their lair to create a new section of pipe, this time with a Metal Car lair. Kill the two Metal Cars and open the lair to create more pipe. This one has a Metal Mouse lair on it. The enemies move quickly to the south. They will come up toward you from the south. Kill them and open their lair. Two new lairs appear near you. The southern one has Pig Warriors in it, and the northern lair is a Metal Mouse lair. Kill these enemies and open the southern lair to release a cat. Open the northern lair to release a door.
Go north to find a Metal Mouse lair. Stand on the pipe with the lair and wait for the mice to come to you. Open their lair to create a pipe going north, but be careful, because soon there will be Metal Mice coming down this pipe. Kill those Metal Mice then go north and west to clear their lair, releasing a chest of drawers.
Go east and south, then west to find a Metal Copter lair. Open the lair to create a pipe to the south. Go south, then west and north, then west again. You will encounter a Pig Warrior lair. Clear it to create a pipe to the south. Go south and clear the Metapede lair to create pipes to the east. This is a shortcut to the stairs.
Go north and west, then south to find another Pig Warrior lair. Open it to release a plant.
Go north to find a Metal Cars lair. Open it to release a plant.
Go south, then east, then north to find another Pig Warrior lair. Open it to release a cat.
You should have cleared all of the lairs in this area now (press START to check) so you can go to the northeast part of this area and go down the stairs.
Basement of Laboratory, B2F
Go south. There are some hot paths here, so equip the Ice Armor to walk safely on it. Kill the Metal Copters coming from the west lair, then open that lair to create a shortcut pipe.
There are two Metapede lairs to the south. The western one releases a cat. The eastern one creates short pipes.
Equip your best armor again if you switched to the Ice Armor, then go south. Go down the stairs into the purple pipe, then kill the Metal Cars to the south. Open their lair to release a mouse.
Go west and south to the Metal Mouse lair. Kill them and open the lair to clear the path to the south. Go north, east, then south and up the stairs. Go west, then north. You'll find four Metal Cars close together. Kill them and open the lair to create a shortcut to the exit.
Go south along the three pipes to find more Metal Cars. Kill them and open the lair to reveal a Metal Copter lair to the north. Open their lair to release a Blue Crystal Fairy. Talk to her to get EXP. She can return you to the upstairs lab.
Go north from the Blue Crystal Fairy. Equip the Ice Armor to go safely up the hot paths, then change back into your strongest armor. Kill the Metal Copters that come from the north. Open their lair to release steps.
Go north and open the Pig Warrior lair to create a shortcut to the north. Go north and open the Metal Cars lair to release a door.
There is a Metal Mouse lair to the northwest. Use the Ice Armor to walk up the hot path and open the lair to create a path to the east. Go east and kill all of the Pig Warriors to clear the two lairs on the wooden platform here. Open the southwest lair to release a model of town and open the northeast lair to create a shortcut to the exit.
Go northwest and open the Metal Copter lair to create a warp tile to the shrine. You should have cleared all of the monster lairs in this area (press START to check) so step on the warp tile and then use the southern tile to go back to the upstairs lab.
Get New Armor
If you go to the area with the cats, you find a mouse that wants you to make the cats leave the room. You also find a door that is locked. It says that the key is somewhere in the lab.
Go to the northeast part of this area and go up the stairs. Go to the southwest corner of the area and go through the door, then go north to the sleeping cat. Use the Dream Rod on the cat. After you see a dream of Dr. Leo being taken away by King Magridd's soldiers, the cat gives you a door key.
Go downstairs to the locked door on the west side of the cat room. Equip the door key, then walk up to the door. You will automatically use the key. In the room, talk to the chest of drawers to receive the Mystic Armor. Equip it.
Get a Master's Emblem
The same chest of drawers that gave you the Mystic Armor has a secret under it. Walk toward the right side of the chest of drawers, pushing it to the left until it moves. Walk onto the spot that the drawers used to be on top of to find Master's Emblem G.
Go to the Model Town
Go back upstairs to the model of town. Check on it and you will be pulled into it. Go north, then west, and some Model Knights will attack you. Clear their lair to open a path to the north.
There are Model Archers to the northwest. Kill them (use magic on the ones that you can't reach) and open their lair to release a mouse.
Go to the southwest corner of the model, then go north to find a Model Knight lair. Open the lair to create a bridge to the north.
Go up the new bridge. Go up the stairs to the west and then go north to find Knights on Horses. Open their lair to release a chest of drawers.
Go south, then east, then north up the path until you can go to the right. Open the Model Knight lair to reveal a new Model Knight lair and a Model Archer lair.
Before dealing with the new enemies, go north and kill the Model Archers there. Open their lair to release a plant.
Go east and south, then clear the Model Knight lair to release a mouse.
Go south and use magic to kill the Model Archers on the hills. Open the lair to release a mouse.
Go north and open the Knights on Horses lair to create a bridge to the east. Go across this bridge. Be careful because there are invisible enemies in this area. Go south, then go east into the area of dirt. Watch out for the spikes coming from the invisible enemies. Kill the Model Knights and open their lair to release a Great Door. That door can see the invisible enemies in the model town.
Go south, then go west into the grassy area. Go south and kill the Model Archers. Open their lair to create a bridge to the south.
Go east and kill the Knights on Horses, but be careful of the spikes coming out of the invisible enemy. Open the Knights on Horses lair to reveal GEMs.
Now go south down the new bridge and keep going south to exit the model. Go to the door that you released earlier and talk to it. (Press A when you are walking through the door and you will talk to it.) The door joins you as the Soul of Detection.
Go back into the model town and go north to reach the area with the invisible enemies. To the east, there is a Siege Tower that sends out spikes. It is not tied to a monster lair. There are more Siege Towers to the north.
Go farther north to find invisible Catapults. You can use magic to kill them, or go east across the bridge, then north, then west across the bridge to reach them. Kill them and open their lair to reveal treasure chests. The one on the right contains 80 GEMs and the one on the left contains a Medical Herb.
Go east across the bridge. To the northeast, there is an invisible Siege Tower, then nearby there is a Model Knight lair. Open the lair to release a Blue Crystal Fairy. Talk to her to get EXP. She can return you to the lab.
There are Model Archers to the south. Kill them and open their lair to reveal two Catapult lairs. The Catapults are invisible. Clear the northern Catapult lair to release a mouse. Clear the southern Catapult lair to release steps.
Go south and cross the bridge. Go south and then all the way west to find a Knights on Horses lair. Kill them, using magic on the Model Archers to the north if they bother you. Open the Knights on Horses lair to create a shortcut to the exit.
Go north to the Model Archer and Model Knight area. Clear the Model Knight area to open the path to west and east. Open the chest to the west (hidden among the houses) to get 50 GEMs. Clear the Model Archer lair to release another model of town.
Press START to see if you missed any of the lairs. There should be 0 lairs remaining. Go southwest to exit the town model.
You can go into the church and talk to the mouse to be healed in front of the altar. You have to walk toward the altar until you are healed.
Now check on the second model of town that you released. You will be pulled in.
Second Model of Town
Go west, then south, then east. There is an invisible Siege Tower here, as well as a Model Knight lair. Open the lair to release a mouse.
Go north and up the bridge. There are invisible Catapults to the east. Get rid of them all and open the lair to change the houses around you. Kill the Archers in this area and open their lair to release a chest of drawers.
Go to the far west side of the model and go north. In this northwest area, clear the Knights on Horses lair to remove the houses and replace them with toxic-looking pools. Kill the new Model Knights to release a plant.
Go west and then south from this area, then go north up the road and then east across the bridge. Before going across the second bridge, go south past some trees to find a Model Archer lair. Clear that lair to change the houses to the west. Open the southern chest (hidden among the houses) to get a Medical Herb and open the northern one to get a Strange Bottle.
There are invisible Siege Towers in the road to the west. There is a Model Archer lair to the southwest. Clear the Archer lair to create a bridge to the south. This is a shortcut to the exit.
Go northeast and then cross the east bridge. Go through the winding roads to go north, then west across the northern bridge. Kill the Model Knights on the way and open the lair to release a cat.
Go east to the town with winding roads, then south and across a bridge. There are invisible Catapults in the southeast corner of the model. Clear their lair to release steps.
Go west to an area with invisible siege towers. Kill the towers, then kill the Knights on Horses coming from the northwest. Clear their lair to create stairs to the left. Use these stairs and then go south to exit the model.
Help the Mouse
Go north from the model room and talk to the plant in the corner to receive Actinidia leaves.
You can go upstairs to the attic and talk to the chest of drawers if you want to store a Medical Herb there. This way you can have an extra Medical Herb if you need one. You can get a free Medical Herb soon, so you might as well put a Medical Herb into the drawer now.
Equip the Actinidia Leaves and go to the room with the two cats. The cats will follow you. Go out of the room through the southeast door and make sure that the cats follow you. They will stand outside of the door. Go back and talk to the mouse in the corner. It will move out of the way so you can go into the mouse hole. Go in and talk to the mouse in the upper part of the room to receive the Spark Bomb magic spell.
You can go out through the southeast exit to find a plant that will give you a Medical Herb if you don't have one.
Go to the Power Plant
In the room with the warp tile, there is a new set of stairs. Go down those stairs to reach the Power Plant.
Go south and then east to find a Metapede lair. Be careful of the spinning Spike Balls around the pipes. They can't be hurt. Clear the Metapede lair to create a pipe to the south. Go down that pipe to get the Light Armor. This armor prevents damage from weak enemies.
Go north and then east. There are pipes to the east that have a Metal Copter lair and a Metal Cars lair. Open the Metal Cars lair (the southern lair) to create a pipe to the south. Open the Metal Copter lair (the northern lair) to create a shortcut pipe.
Go south to the Pig Warrior lair. Clear the lair to reveal pipes to the south. Equip the Ice Armor to go safely across the hot paths. After crossing the pipes, clear the Metal Cars lair to reveal a new pipe with a Metal Copter lair. Clear it to reveal a Metapede lair. Clear that to release a doll.
Go west and clear the Metal Copter lair to release a Blue Crystal Fairy. She gives you EXP.
Continue going west. There is a Metal Copter lair in the southwest area. Clear their lair to reveal a blue warp tile.
You can now fight the final boss of this area. Go all the way west, then north. Follow the path to find stairs leading downward. These stairs lead to the boss, Tin Doll.
Tin Doll moves quickly, and it will hide its head to shoot rockets. After shooting rockets, it will shoot fireballs that move toward you. The rockets will fall at random from the ceiling, but the rockets themselves don't hurt you, just the explosions that they make when they hit the ground. After shooting fireballs, Tin Doll will run to the side of the room, where it will teleport to a different tile. To defeat Tin Doll, stand diagonally away from it such that you can hold L or R to point your sword at it, damaging it. It becomes invulnerable when it hides its head, but you can damage it when its head is out.
Get the Purple Stone
After Tin Doll is dead, open the lair in the southeast corner of the room to release Marie, the doll. It can be difficult to walk on the correct spot to make this lair open, but just keep trying.
Go upstairs, then go to the southwest corner of this area and step on the blue tile to return to the shrine, then step on the south tile to go back to the lab. Go up to the top floor attic and talk to Marie. You get the Purple Stone from her.
Go to the Next Area
Go downstairs to the blue warp tile and step on it to go to the shrine. Step on the north tile and choose Move, then press up to go to Magridd Castle.
