After you defeat Ridley-X, you regain the Screw Attack ability, allowing you to freely explore all of the Sectors of the station, where you can collect any upgrades that you might have missed. This page will cover upgrades that were not on the main path of this walkthrough.

Upgrades in SRX

From the room to the right of the Sector 1 Recharge Room, go to the bottom left of the room and go through the blue door there. In this room, jump up against the left wall to grab a hidden ledge at the top of the flat part of the wall. Pull yourself up and roll to the left, then Screw Attack the barrier to the left. Go through the door to the left, then keep going left to reach Sector 3.

Sector 3 (PYR)

Go to the left and Screw Attack through the left wall, then Screw Attack through the floor. Kill the enemies in this corridor, then go to the right and run to the left while shooting. Before you go through the door on the left, jump up and press left to do a Shinespark through the door. Use a Power Bomb to reveal a tunnel in the left wall. Roll through it to get a Power Bomb Tank. Then roll back through the tunnel, and Screw Attack the bottom left corner of this room to fall down below.

Go to the left and Screw Attack into the tunnel on the left. Roll through the tunnel and go to the left side to fall through a Pit Block. Go to the left side of this room and go through the middle door on the left. You can run safely through the lava in this room, but you might get hit by lava spouts, so you might want to just Screw Attack through this room. Go through the door on the left. If you did not get the Energy Tank in this room, do a Speed Boost through the far left ceiling to reach it.

In the bottom of this room, there are some Screw Attack blocks in the floor between the ramp and the hole in the left side of the ceiling. Screw Attack through them, then go through the door on the left. In this area with the glass tunnel, Screw Attack the ceiling near the door, and go up through the hole and screw attack the grey block on the right to get a Power Bomb Tank. Go back down to the lower area and go through the door on the right.

Go back to the room to the right of the Recharge Room. Go through the bottom right door. Go up to the Namihe and kill it with a Screw Attack, then walk up against the right wall to fall through a Pit Block. Open the gate, then walk to the far left of this room and run to the right. After you break through the Boost Blocks in the floor, go to the left to fall through a Pit Block, then use a Power Bomb to open a tunnel in the left wall, near the top. Roll through the tunnel, kill the Namihe with a Screw Attack, then Space Jump up to the Power Bomb Tank in the upper left corner. Then go to the right and roll back through the tunnel, then go to the right and go through the door there.

Go to the bottom of this tall room and go through the door on the left. Go across the lava and go through the door on the left. Use a Power Bomb to break a hole in the floor under the lava. Fall through the hole and go down until you can go to the right. Go right and Space Jump through hidden holes in the ceiling to reach the upper right of this lava maze, then make your way clockwise through the hidden tunnels around the edge of the room to reach the Power Bomb Tank near the upper left corner of the lava maze. Then go to the right to fall through the Pit Blocks, and go to the right until you can Space Jump up through the hole in the ceiling. When you are out of the lava, go through the door on the right. Then Space Jump through the lava room and go through the door on the right.

In this tall room, go through the door at the bottom right. Keep going to the right until you reach a large room with lava in it. Shoot through the gate to hit the red light and open it, then fall into the lava and go to the right. Screw Attack all of the blocks of the right wall, then go to the left side of this lava pit and start running to the right while shooting. You will Speed Boost into the next room. Before you hit the wall, crouch and walk up against the right wall, and jump to do a Shinespark straight up. You will get a Power Bomb Tank on the way.

Fall back down the long path that you just came through, but push left to land in a gap in the wall. Screw Attack the ceiling here, then go to the left and Screw Attack the floor to reach the Power Bomb Tank. Then go up through the ceiling and go to the right until you are in the narrow chute where you Shinesparked earlier. Space Jump up to the top of the chute and go through the door on the left.

Keep going to the left, and Screw Attack through the wall in your way, then go to the left and Screw Attack through the ceiling, then Screw Attack the wall to the right. Go to the right and go through the door, then go through the tunnel to Sector 1.

Sector 1 (SRX)

Screw Attack through the wall to the right, then roll through the tunnel on the right. Go to the upper right of the room and go through the door there. Go to the upper right of this room and go through the door there. Screw Attack through the ceiling, then jump up against the right wall to grab a hidden ledge. Pull yourself up and go to the right, then go to the right and go through the tunnel to Sector 2.

Sector 2 (TRO)

Go to the right and Screw Attack through the wall. Go to the right side of this room and go through the door there. In this big room, go to the upper right corner and go through the door there. Keep going to the right until you can't go any farther right, then go up and go through the blue door in the middle of this room. Screw Attack against the left wall near the ceiling to open a hole. Go to the left and go through the door there.

Most of the platforms in this room are made of Pit Blocks. Carefully Space Jump to the upper left corner of the room without landing on any of the platforms. The trick is to lightly tap the jump button so you only fall a short distance after each jump. Take the Energy Tank from the upper left corner of the room. Then Space Jump to the right and go down the hole, then Space Jump to the left to reach a Power Bomb Tank. Go to the right to fall through the Pit Blocks, then go to the right and Space Jump back to the upper right corner of the room. Go through the door there, then go to the right and Screw Attack the right wall to return to the Security Room. Go to the bottom of the room and go through the door on the bottom right.

Go to the bottom of this room and go through the door on the left. Go to the left through this corridor and go through the door on the left. You will be back in the room to the right of the Recharge Room. Go downward past the blue hatch on the right side of the room and Space Jump into the tunnel below that blue hatch. Roll through the tunnel and go to the right side of this room with the hopping Keyhunters. Go through the door on the right. In this tall room, go all the way to the bottom, and go through the door on the left.

Screw Attack through the thin block in the floor, then use a Power Bomb to destroy the thin block below it. Go downward and go through the door on the right, then in the Save Room, go through the door on the right. In the next room, go through the door on the right. Then go through the hole in the floor and go through the door on the right, to reach the room where you fought Zazabi.

Space Jump to the upper right corner of this room and Screw Attack through the upper right wall, then go through the door on the right. Go down to the bottom of this room and use a Power Bomb to reveal a Missile Tank blocked by Boost Blocks. Go to the far right, then run to the left, and crouch before you touch the wall, then turn to the right, Space Jump upward, shoot your beam to stop Space Jumping, press the jump button when you are in line with the Boost Blocks in the wall, then press right to Shinespark through the Boost Blocks and get the Missile Tank.

There is a Power Bomb Tank in this room, but it is challenging to get. From where you collected the Missile Tank, run to the right and crouch before you hit the wall. Space Jump to the platform above, then jump and press left to Shinespark into the ramp. If you did it correctly, you will Speed Boost over the Pit Blocks. Before you hit the wall to the left of the Pit Blocks, crouch and Space Jump to the platform above, Shinespark into the ramp on the right. Repeat this process. At the top of the room, crouch after you go over the Pit Blocks so you avoid hitting the step. Then Space Jump onto the step and do a Shinespark to the left to hit the ramp, and keep going so you break through some Boost Blocks and get the Power Bomb Tank. Afterward, go to the left to fall through the Pit Blocks, then go through the door on the left.

In Zazabi's room, Screw Attack through the left wall, then Space Jump to the upper left of the room and go through the door there. Go up through the hole in the ceiling and go through the door on the left. Keep going to the left until you reach a damaged door. Screw Attack through the floor to the right of the damaged door. In the room where you saw SA-X, go to the right of the tunnel and Screw Attack through the floor, then go to the left and go through the door on the left.

In this tall room, if you already got the Missile Tank near the Data Room in this Sector, skip to the next paragraph. Otherwise, go to the very bottom of this tall room and go through the door on the left. Keep going to the left until you can't go farther left. In the large room, go to the upper left of the room and go through the door. Then Space Jump to the top of this room and go through the door there. If you didn't get the Missile Tank in the upper left of this tall room, go to the top of the room, stand on the highest ledge, crouch, and shoot a Missile to the left, then roll through the tunnel and Space Jump to the Missile Tank above. Then roll back through the tunnel and go back to the bottom of the tall room. Go through the door on the left. Go to the bottom of this room and go through the door on the right. Then in the big room, go through the bottom right door. Go to the right through this room with the Puyos, and go through the door on the right.

Go to the top of this tall room and go through the door at the top. In the small room, go through the door on the right, then go to the top of this room and roll through the tunnel at the top left. In this big room, go up to the upper right of the room and go through the door there. Go through the corridor and go through the door on the right, then Screw Attack the right wall to open a hole. Go through it, and go through the door on the right to find the tunnel to Sector 4.

Sector 4 (AQA)

There should be no upgrades to collect in Sector 4, so Space Jump up this tall room and Screw Attack through the ceiling above, then Screw Attack all the way to the top. Grab onto the ladder, then charge up a Diffusion Missile and shoot it at the wall to break the Missile Blocks up above. Go up into the upper right area, and ball jump against the right wall to roll into a hidden tunnel. Go to the right and go through the door on the right, then go through the tunnel to reach Sector 6.

Sector 6 (NOC)

Screw Attack through the wall here, then go up through the hole in the ceiling and go to the upper right corner of the room. Go through the door there. In the dark room, Screw Attack through wall to the right of the upper left door, then leave this room through the upper right door. Go to the right until you reach a tall room. Go downward and go through the door on the left. As you go to the left, Screw Attack the block that sticks up from the floor. Go to the far left side and run to the right while shooting. When you reach the tall room, crouch, then jump and press right to Shinespark through Boost Blocks. You will reach a door. Go through it.

First, turn around and shoot the door open. Then go to the far right, where you will see an Energy Tank. It is blocked by Boost Blocks. To reach it, you need to bomb the correct spots in the floating platforms to make short elevators appear. If you bomb incorrect spots, elevators will appear that block your path, and you will need to leave the room and come back in. First, bomb the middle of both of the longer platforms, bomb the middle of the medium length platform, and bomb the ends of the small platform. After you have made a path to Speed Boost to the Energy Tank, start running from the left side of the room. Before you fall off the end, do a Space Jump while still running. You will jump through the wall of Boost Blocks so you can reach the Energy Tank.

Before you leave this room, shoot open the door, then go to the far right of the platform and run toward the left. Before you fall off the end, crash, press A to float up, then press left to Shinespark through the door. This will allow you to break through the Boost Blocks in the next room.

After you hit a door, go through that door. Screw Attack through the block that sticks up from the floor, then shoot open the red door on the left side of the room. Go to the far right side of this room and run to the left. Crouch before you hit the wall, then Space Jump onto the ledge on the left. Jump and press left to Shinespark through the door. You will break through some Boost Blocks and will see a Power Bomb Tank on the way.

From where you land, jump up onto the platform above, then run to the far right side of this platform, and then run to the left to Speed Boost. Before you can fall off of the edge, crouch, then Space Jump down below, toward the right side of the floor, but before you land, shoot your beam to stop Space Jumping, then jump and press right to do a Shinespark to the right. Try to Shinespark one square below the Boost Blocks that you broke through when you first entered this room. This will put you in line with the Power Bomb Tank that you passed by earlier, so you will Shinespark through it and get it.

In this same room, go down to the bottom of the room. Go toward the bottom left corner, then run to the right to Speed Boost. Before you can hit the wall, crouch, then Space Jump onto the ledge above. Jump and press left to Shinespark into the ramp, but before you go over the bridge start Space Jumping left and up. Try to Space Jump as high as possible. After you bounce in the air for the second time, let yourself drop, and you will fall through a roof made of Boost Blocks, to an area where you can get a Power Bomb Tank. After you get it, Screw Attack through the floor to the right and you will fall through some Pit Blocks below. After that, go to the upper right exit and go through. Roll into the upper tunnel and go to the right side to fall through a Pit Block at the end. Then roll to the right to go through through the hidden passage there.

Go to the bottom of this room and go through the door on the right. Don't step on the thin block in the floor. Screw Attack over it and go through the walls to the right. Go through the door there. (If you did fall through the Pit Blocks, go to the right and go through the door there, then Screw Attack through the ceiling.) Use a Power Bomb to reveal a Power Bomb Tank, as well as a tunnel in the top of the room and some Pit Blocks just before the Power Bomb Tank. Roll into the tunnel, and when you get out, tap up twice to stand up, and quickly Space Jump up to the Power Bomb tank. If you can Space Jump before the Pit Blocks reappear above you, you should be able to Space Jump to the top of the room even if you are falling through the Pit Blocks. If you don't succeed, just keep trying.

From this room, Screw Attack through the bottom left of the floor to reach the corridor below, then go through the door on the left. This is the room where you fought the Security Robot. Go to the left through this room and go through the door on the left. Go down to the bottom left corner of the room and go through the door there. Go to the bottom of the tall room and Screw Attack through the left side of the floor. Go through the red door where you land.

NOTE: You are about to enter the Restricted Zone. There is no way out except through a Navigation Room, and all Sectors will be inaccessible after you go to the Navigation Room. If you want to get 100% of the upgrades before you complete the game, pause the game, press R to see your status screen, and make sure that you have 2099 total Energy, 250 total Missiles, and 70 total Power Bombs. If not, check the Item List and gather anything that you missed before you go into the Restricted Zone.

If you are ready to enter the Restricted Zone, then in the room with the security camera, go to the left and shoot your beam at the red light through the gate to open it. Then go to the left and roll through the tunnel to reach the Restricted Zone.

Restricted Zone

After you fall through a Pit Block from the tunnel in the first room of the Restricted Zone, go through the door on the left. In the Save Room, go through the door on the left. From here, run to the left while shooting. When you are in the space tunnel, crouch, then center yourself in the tunnel, standing behind the leftmost piece of metal that you can stand behind. If you don't position yourself correctly, you will miss the upgrade. When you are standing behind the leftmost piece of metal, do a Shinespark straight up. You will fly through a Power Bomb tank.

At the top, go through the door on the right to enter a Navigation Room where you will be forced to talk to Adam, and a cutscene will occur. Use the Navigation computer again to open the doors.

Afterward, go through the door on the right and go up the elevator to Sector 1. Space Jump through this room and exit through the top right door. Screw Attack to the right to kill the Amoebas, then go through the door on the right. Space Jump upward and roll through the tunnel across from the ladder, and go through the door to the right of the tunnel. Shoot open the gate in the small room and go through the door on the right to reach a tall room. Screw Attack through the floor and go to the bottom of the tall room, then go through the door there. Screw Attack to the right to go through the walls, and shoot at the red light to open the gate in this room to reach the door on the right. Go through. Screw Attack up through this room, then at the top, go through the door on the left. In the small room, go through the door on the left. In the room with the atmospheric stabilizer, go through the upper left door. In the small room with the water, go through the door on the left. In the tall room, go to the top (you can Screw Attack through the striped platforms) and go through the door on the left. In the lava room, go down into the lava and go to the bottom left. Go through the green door at the bottom left. In this tall room, Screw Attack to the top of the room and go through the blue door at the top. Then go to the upper left door of this room and go through. Make your way through the Recharge, Save, and Navigation Rooms (no need to use the Navigation computer), then go up the elevator, then go to the middle of the Sector elevator area and go up the Main Elevator.
