This page explains how to trade from Pokémon Brilliant Diamond to Pokémon Shining Pearl.
What You Need
Each player needs a Nintendo Switch. For faraway trades, both players need an Internet connection.
In-Game Requirements
Before you can trade from Pokémon Brilliant Diamond to Pokémon Shining Pearl, you need to reach a Pokémon Center to trade with nearby players, and you need to win the Coal Badge from the Oreburgh City Gym to trade with players who are far away.
How to Trade
Go down the escalator in any pokémon center and go toward the counter. The person on the right will explain about trading. This unlocks using the Y button outside of buildings in the game to access the Local Room and Global Room.
From then on, you can go outside of buildings in the game and press Y to access the Local Room and Global Room. Choose the Local Room to trade with players who are nearby, or if you have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you can choose Global Room to trade with players who are far away.
After you choose a room, you can choose "Yes" to find random players, "Yes, with my group" to enter the room with the group that you are in (see below for more details about Groups), or "Yes, with a link code" to enter a numeric code, and if anyone else has entered the same code, you will enter the room with them.
After you enter the room, press Y and choose Call, then choose Trade to announce that you want to trade. Other players can then talk to your character to trade with you. Or, you can talk to any player with the ? over their heads with the trade symbol in it, and say Yes to start the trade. Your pokémon boxes will be displayed and you can choose which pokémon to trade.
Groups
To create a group, there is an Ace Trainer in Jubilife City that you need to talk to. Ask to create a group, then give the group a name. After you have created a group, enter the Local Room with someone who wants to join your group. Both players need to talk to the person in the corner, then choose Mix Records. After that, the person who is not in the group can talk to the Ace Trainer in Jubilife City to join your group.
