A guide to the second trial (level 89) in the Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker main scenario.
How to Unlock
The Endwalker Level 89 Trial is an 8-player trial that is unlocked by a level 89 Main Scenario Quest in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker.
First Phase
The boss will cast Heros's Radiance, which deals damage to all party members.
The boss will cast Dawn Mantle, and symbols of a certain color and shape will float around the boss, indicating the shape of the upcoming attack and where the safe spot will be.
- Red symbols with shields inside indicate that the safe spot is underneath the boss.
- Green symbols with a healer staff inside indicate that the boss will attack with a circle attack centered on the boss, so players should move away from the boss to avoid it.
- Blue symbols with a sword inside indicate that the boss will attack in a cross pattern with four line attack markers, one in front, one behind, one the left, and one to the right, based on the direction that the boss is facing.
The boss will cast Mousa's Scorn, which targets the player at the top of the enmity list with a red stack marker. The tank(s) should stack together with the marked player to reduce damage.
The boss will cast Dawn Mantle again. See above for an explanation of how to avoid the damage, based on the symbols around the boss after Dawn Mantle.
The boss will cast Magos's Radiance, which deals damage to all party members.
The boss will cast Dawn Mantle once more. See above for an explanation of how to avoid the damage, based on the symbols around the boss after Dawn Mantle.
The boss will cast Heros's Sundering, which targets the player at the top of the enmity list with a large cone attack. Other players should avoid being near the targeted player to avoid getting hit.
The attacks from this phase will repeat until the boss reaches about 60% health.
Second Phase
The boss summons six Crystals of Light. Attack these quickly, while avoiding the following attacks.
The boss will mark the entire platform with an attack that spreads from the center. Get as far away as possible from the center line indicated by the attack marker to reduce the damage that you take.
A player will be marked with a stack marker. All party members should stand near the marked player to reduce the damage.
After another attack across the length of the platform, an untargetable enemy will appear, and will cast Crystalline Blizzard III to target the party with circle attack markers that follow them. Party members should move away from each other to avoid overlapping their circles.
These attacks will continue until the Crystals of Light are destroyed.
Third Phase
After a brief delay, the boss will hit all players with Exodus, which deals a large amount of damage to the party.
Dawn Mantle will now be combined with other attacks, such as all players being targeted with circle attack markers, or a player being marked with a stack marker.
The boss casts Parhelion, marking the platform with multiple line attacks in three directions. Move into one of the three safe areas between the groups of line attack markers to avoid getting hit.
The boss casts Subparhelion, creating floating objects at the edges of the platform. These will cover the entire platform with line attack markers in the order that they appear. Stand next to (but not on) the first attack markers to appear, then after their attack markers are gone, move to where they were.
The boss will create green lines on the ground. After a moment, an orb will appear at the endpoint of each line, and each orb will have a circle attack centered on itself. Move close to the edge of the area, between the longest lines, to avoid getting hit.
Fourth Phase
The boss will cast Radiant Halo, which marks the transition to the fourth phase of the battle.
The boss will cast Light Wave, causing waves of light will appear around the edges of the area, and the boss will then cast Echoes, targeting a player with a multiple-stack marker, which indicates that all players should move into the stack marker and stay there while the attack hits multiple times. After the attacks finish, players will then need to avoid the waves of light that move across the area.
Continue avoiding the attacks as described until you defeat the boss.
Completing the Quest
Defeating in trial will complete one of the quest objectives for a level 89 Main Scenario Quest in Endwalker.
