EVE CPU guide

Your ship's CPU limits the number of modules you can have online on your ship at a time. If you have insufficient CPU, this doesn't prevent you from fitting another module if you have enough Powergrid for it, but rather prevents you from putting that module online. This article describes ways to optimize your CPU usage and capacity.

Train Electronics to increase your CPU output

The Electronics skill will boost your CPU output by 5% for every level you have it trained. In addition, this skill is required for a few types of scanners and EWAR modules.

Fit a co-processor to your ship to boost CPU output

Co-processors fit in your ship and increase your CPU output. There are a number of different co-processors available. A Co-Processor II boosts CPU output by 10%.

Train skills to reduce the CPU usage of modules

A number of skills exist that reduce the amount of CPU required by different types of modules that you can fit to your ship. They are summarized below:

Use an Implant to reduce CPU usage of specific modules

Implants such as the Zainou 'Gnome' and the Inherent Implants 'Highwall' reduce CPU usage of specific module types.

Use rigs on your ship to reduce CPU usage of specific module types

There exist a number of rigs to reduce CPU usage of modules. For example, the Liquid Cooled Electronics rig will reduce CPU needs of Electronics Upgrades modules.

Skill Modules with improved CPU
Weapon Upgrades Reduces turret, missile launcher, and smartbomb CPU needs
Electronics Upgrades Reduces the CPU needs of Signal Amplifiers, Backup Sensor Arrays, and other modules that affect targeting
Energy Grid Upgrades Reduces the CPU needs of modules that improve capacitor recharge rate and capacity
Mining Upgrades Reduces the extra CPU penalty applied to mining lasers on ships that have Mining Laser Upgrade modules fitted to them
