This page explains how to get all 52 Pieces of Heart in Majora's Mask. They are listed in the order that they can be obtained based on the items required.

List of Pieces of Heart

1. Requirements: None
   On day 1 or day 2, between 6PM and 12PM you can go into the Post Office and play a minigame with the Postman. It's easier if you get the Bunny Hood and wear it during the game. If you can press the button after exactly 10 seconds, you get a piece of heart. Wearing the Bunny Hood makes the timer visible the entire time, making it easier to know when 10 seconds have passed.
2. Requirements: Moon's Tear
   There is a Piece of Heart on the Clock Tower. You can get it after you have given the Moon's Tear to the Business Scrub in front of the Clock Tower. After that, you can use the Business Scrub's flower to float to the ledge above the doors of the Clock Tower and get the Piece of Heart.
3. Requirements: 5000 Rupees
   Deposit 5000 rupees in the West Clock Town bank.
4. Requirements: Letter or Title Deed
   You can get this Piece of Heart if you have a Letter or a Title Deed (like the one that you get by giving the Moon's Tear to the Business Scrub. Go into the Stock Pot Inn between midnight and 6AM. If you don't have a room key to get into the Inn at night, wear the Deku Mask and use the Deku Flower near the entrance of the Inn to float onto the roof over the Inn's front door, then walk to the second story door near the bell and go inside. Go to the toilet that is across from Anju's Grandmother's room. Inside, you will find the hand, whose name is ???. Give the Letter or Land Title Deed to ??? and it will give you a Piece of Heart.
5. Requirements: Deku Mask
   When you are back in human form, go to North Clock Town and climb up onto a wooden platform in the corner near the slide. Instead of sliding down the slide, jump onto the nearby tree to get the Piece of Heart.
6. Requirements: Deku Mask
   Go to the Swordsman School in West Clock Town. It's next to the Post Office. Play the Advanced Course. Get a perfect score (30 points) by doing a Jump Attack on each log. You get a Piece of Heart. If you are having trouble, try not to get too close to the logs before you do the Jump Attack.
7. Requirements: Deku Mask, 10 Rupees
   Play and win the Deku Playground game three days in a row. The Deku Playground is next to the Great Fairy Fountain in North Clock Town. The trick is that you will only fall down if you keep pressing the control stick while floating. If you don't touch the control stick, you will continue to float, although you will slowly descend. After you have beaten the record score on all three days, you get a Piece of Heart.
8. Requirements: Deku Mask
   Fall into the hole in the grass near the entrance to Milk Road. Kill the peahat in this hole to get a Piece of Heart.
9. Requirements: Deku Mask
   Find a hole beneath one of the stone mushroom-shaped towers in northwest Termina Field. Kill the two Dodongos inside to get a Piece of Heart.
10. Requirements: Deku Mask, 100 Rupees
    Go to the observatory and look to the left of the Clock Tower to see the Business Scrub flying by. Watch him to see where he goes. Then go into the hole that you saw him enter and talk to the Business Scrub. He asks for 150 rupees to give you a Piece of Heart. Say no and he will sell it to you for 100 rupees.
11. Requirements: Deku Mask
    Go south from Clock Town to reach the path to the Southern Swamp. In this path, there is a tree near Tingle that has vines on it. Climb those vines to find a hidden Piece of Heart at the top.
12. Requirements: Deku Mask
    Go to the Observatory and use the telescope to zoom in to the top of the Clock Tower, then go outside to get the Moon's Tear that fell. Give the Moon's Tear to the Business Scrub in front of the Clock Tower. Then go to the Southern Swamp and give the Land Title Deed to the Business Scrub next to the Swamp Tourist Center. As a Deku, use the flower to float to the roof of the Swamp Tourist Center and get the Piece of Heart there.
13. Requirements: Deku Mask, 50 rupees
    Go to Romani Ranch on any day and go to the far side. Go into the door under the dog symbol. Talk to Mamamu Yan and say that you want to try the dog race. If you have the Mask of Truth, put it on. Then pick up a dog inside of the fenced area and walk up to Mamamu Yan while carrying the dog. If you are wearing the Mask of Truth when you pick up a dog, you will hear its thoughts. If the dog says "Ruff!" and sounds confident, it has a good chance of winning. But if the dog says "Rrr-Ruff!" it will be more likely to end in the middle, and a dog that says "Hoo-whine" is more likely to come in last. In addition, the black dog is least likely to win, no matter what it says. Also, if the gold dog sounds confident, it is most likely to win. After you have walked up to Mamamu Yan carrying your dog of choice, bet 50 rupees. If your dog gets first place, you get a Piece of Heart.
14. Requirements: Deku Mask, Keaton Mask
    Wear the Keaton Mask, then find a circle of grass with some grass in the middle, and cut the grass with your sword. If you found the correct type of grass circle, the grass will start dancing around after you cut it. If you are wearing the Keaton Mask, a Keaton will appear. Answer his five questions correctly to get a Piece of Heart.
15. Requirements: Deku Mask, Bomb Bag/Blast Mask/Goron Mask
    Get rid of the boulder in the west side of Termina Field just before the entrance to the Great Bay Coast (use the Goron's Mask or the Blast Mask or a bomb). Go into the hole that you revealed. Shoot down the beehives over the water. As a Zora, sink to the bottom to get the Piece of Heart that falls out.
16. Requirements: Deku Mask, Blast Mask, All-Night Mask
    Wear the All Night Mask and listen to both of Anju's Grandma's stories. Say the top answer each time. You get a Piece of Heart.
17. Requirements: Deku Mask, Blast Mask, All-Night Mask
    Wear the All Night Mask and listen to Anju's grandmother's second story, and answer "I dunno".
18. Requirements: Song of Healing, Deku Mask, Kamaro's Mask
    To get this Piece of Heart, first you need Kamaro's mask. You can find Kamaro after midnight, dancing on a mushroom-shaped tower northeast of Clock Town, in Termina Field. To reach Kamaro, don't go down to the snowy area with the Dodongos. Instead, stand on the stone wall so you can see the tops of the mushrooms. Jump onto his tower, then talk to him and play the Song of Healing to get Kamaro's Mask. Then on the night of the First or Second Day, wear Kamaro's and go to West Clock Town and hold the B button to dance for the Rosa Sisters.
19. Requirements: Deku Mask, Koume Rescued
    Inside of the Deku Palace, go to the end of the western inner garden to find a Piece of Heart.
20. Requirements: Deku Mask, Koume Rescued
    In the Woodfall area (where the Woodfall Temple is) use the Deku Flower near the owl statue to float farther along the flowers around the edge of the area. At the end, open the treasure chest to get a Piece of Heart.
21. Requirements: Pictograph Box
    Use the Pictograph Box to take a picture of either Tingle or the Deku King, then show it to the guy in the Swamp Tourist Center to get a Piece of Heart.
22. Requirements: Sonata of Awakening or other song required for dungeon entrance
    Go into the four holes around Termina field. One is to the left of the observatory. One is between the Southern Swamp entrance and Milk Road. One is Under a boulder northwest of town. One is northeast. Inside, play either the Sonata of Awakening, Goron's Lullaby, or New Wave Bossa Nova to make the large gossip stone change color. When all four are the same color, you get a Piece of Heart.
23. Requirements: Hero's Bow
    Play the shooting gallery in East Clock Town and get a perfect 50 points.
24. Requirements: 10 Rupees, Hero's Bow
    Play and win Honey and Darling's game in West Clock Town three days in a row.
25. Requirements: Moon's Tear, Deku Mask, Hero's Bow
    Go to the Observatory and use the telescope to zoom in to the top of the Clock Tower, then go outside to get the Moon's Tear that fell. Give the Moon's Tear to the Business Scrub in front of the Clock Tower. Then go to the Southern Swamp, wear the Deku Mask, and give the Land Title Deed to the Business Scrub next to the Swamp Tourist Center. Now take the Swamp Title Deed and go to the Mountain Village, and from there go to Goron Village. Find the Business Scrub in the southwest of the area and wear the Deku Mask give him the Swamp Title Deed. Use his Deku Flower to float up to the ledge up above and reach the Piece of Heart there.
26. Requirements: Hero's Bow
    Go south from Clock Town to reach the path to the Southern Swamp. In this path, find the entrance to the Swamp Shooting Gallery. Go in and get 2000 or more points to get a Piece of Heart.
27. Requirements: Hero's Bow, Odolwa Defeated
    After you defeat Odolwa, go talk to Koume in the Swamp Tourist Center. Koume will do a target shooting game with you. If you hit the target 20 times and hit Koume fewer than 10 times, you get a Piece of Heart.
28. Requirements: Goron Mask
    Wear the Goron Mask and play the Treasure Hunting game in East Clock Town. If you win you get a Piece of Heart.
29. Requirements: Goron Mask, Deku Sticks or Fire Arrows, Goht Defeated
    Before defeating Goht in the Snowhead Temple, light all the torches in the Goron Shrine (where the crying Goron kid is) to make the chandelier start spinning. Alternatively, shoot the middle of the chandelier with a Fire Arrow to make it start spinning. Then go to the crying Goron kid's room and do a Goron Roll out of the room. When you go up the ramp at the end, hit one of the spinning chandelier vases to break it. Do this until the Rock Sirloin falls out. As a Goron, carry the Rock Sirloin to the Mountain Village and throw it onto the ledge with the Hungry Goron. You get Don Gero's Mask. Wear the mask and talk to the frog in the Laundry Pool, the frog on the log outside of the Deku Palace in Southern Swamp, and defeat the minibosses of the Woodfall Temple and the Great Bay Temple and talk to those two frogs. Then defeat Goht in the Snowhead Temple if it's not springtime in the mountains, then go back to the Mountain Village and talk to the frog choir on the lilypads. You get a Piece of Heart.
30. Requirements: Hero's Bow, Epona's Song
    Go to the Oceanside Skulltula House in Great Bay Coast. If you have the Captain's Hat, go to the library in the Oceanside Skulltula House and find the two Stalchildren there. Wear the Captain's Hat and talk to those Stalchildren. Make a note of the color and number that the Stalchildren mention. Then go into the dining room, where four Stalchildren are sitting. Talk to them while wearing the Captain's Hat and make a note of the color and number that they say. Then in the dining room, shoot the masks on the wall in the order that the Stalchildren said. When you do it correctly, the fireplace will open. Go through the fireplace and get the Piece of Heart from the room beyond.
31. Requirements: Four fish, Epona's Song
    Catch at least four fish in bottles. Then go to the Marine Research Laboratory in Great Bay Coast and go inside. Walk on top of the small aquarium next to the door that has a couple of fish inside. Dump the fish out of your bottles. After you have dumped enough fish, one of the fish in the aquarium grows large enough to eat the other fish. It will spit out a Piece of Heart.
32. Requirements: Goht Defeated, Zora Mask
    Defeat Goht to make it springtime in the mountains. Then go to the path between the Mountain Village and the Goron Village. As a Zora, sink to the bottom of the water in the south part of the area. Find the treasure chest and open it to get a Piece of Heart.
33. Requirements: Zora Mask
    Go to Zora Cape and go to the farthest east point, where there is a waterfall. Look into the water at the bottom of the waterfall and you will see a Like Like. You can shoot it with arrows to kill it, or just swim down there as a Zora and use the electric barrier attack to kill it. After it dies, get the Piece of Heart that it leaves behind.
34. Requirements: Zora Mask
    Go into the Zora Hall in Zora Cape. Wear the Zora Mask and get into the drummer's room. Use the hookshot to reach the ledge above the drummer. Read the journal to learn some notes. Then go into the bass player's room and play the notes that you just read. After you play the song together, go into the piano player's room and take off the Zora Mask. Stand behind the piano player and play the full song (both the bass player's parts and your parts). The piano player will steal your song and give you a Piece of Heart.
35. Requirements: Moon's Tear, Deku Mask, Zora Mask, Goron Mask
    Go to the Observatory and use the telescope to zoom in to the top of the Clock Tower, then go outside to get the Moon's Tear that fell. Give the Moon's Tear to the Business Scrub in front of the Clock Tower. Then go to the Southern Swamp, wear the Deku Mask, and give the Land Title Deed to the Business Scrub next to the Swamp Tourist Center. Now take the Swamp Title Deed and go to the Mountain Village, and from there go to Goron Village. Find the Business Scrub in the southwest of the area and wear the Deku Mask give him the Swamp Title Deed to get the Mountain Title Deed. Then go to Zora Hall and wear the Zora Mask to get into Lulu's room. Wear the Goron Mask and give the Mountain Title Deed to the Business Scrub. Then, put on the Deku Mask and use the Deku Flower to reach the Piece of Heart on the ledge.
36. Requirements: Zora Mask, Goron Mask
    In the Pirate Fortress, before you reach the area with many guards walking around, you will go through a room where there is a jail cell. Go up to the upper level and break the barrels to find a switch on the floor. Wear the Goron Mask and step on the switch, then roll down the stairs to enter the jail cell before it closes. Get the Piece of Heart in the cell.
37. Requirements: Pictograph Box, Epona's Song, Zora Mask, Picture of Gerudo Pirate, empty bottle
    While you are in the Pirate Fortress, take a picture of a Gerudo Pirate. If you have the Stone Mask, you can easily take a picture because you can walk right up to any Gerudo Pirate and she won't be able to see you (although she will turn and look in your direction). In the Great Bay Coast, check on the Seahorse in the fish bowl, then show the picture to the Fisherman to receive the Seahorse in an empty bottle. With the Seahorse, walk between the two large stones near the Marine Research Laboratory and you will reach Pinnacle Rock. Take the Seahorse out of the bottle and follow it from sign to sign. When you reach the Deep Python area, kill all of the sea snakes. The Seahorse will reunite with its mate and give you a Piece of Heart.
38. Requirements: Scarecrow's Song, Goron Mask, Lens of Truth, Hookshot
    Talk to a Scarecrow (there is one in the item shop in West Clock Town, and another in the Observatory) and use your Ocarina in front of it, then play a song for the Scarecrow to remember. Then go to Mountain Village and enter the path that leads to Snowhead. Roll as a Goron until you are just before the second ramp. Use the Lens of Truth to see invisible platforms. Go to the farthest platform that you can reach, then play the song that you taught to the Scarecrow. The Scarecrow will appear on a platform in the distance. Use your hookshot on the Scarecrow to go over there. Get the Piece of Heart next to the Scarecrow.
39. Requirements: Deku Mask, 10 Rupees, Magic Bean, Water/Song of Storms, Hookshot
    This Piece of Heart is in the Great Bay Coast, but you need a Magic Bean platform to reach it. To get a magic bean, go to the Southern Swamp, wear the Deku Mask, and talk to the Business Scrub who lives next to the Swamp Tourist Information Center. Buy a Magic Bean from him for 10 rupees. Then if you do not know the Song of Storms, collect some water in an empty bottle. Then go to the Great Bay Coast and swim to the northeast area. Find the stone columns up on ledges in this area. Use the hookshot to get up there, then find the soft soil and plant the Magic Bean there. If you know the Song of Storms, play it to water the Magic Bean. Otherwise, pour the water onto it that you collected in an empty bottle. Be sure not to stand on the soft soil if you play the Song of Storms, because if you do, the bean can't grow. When the platform is there, stand on it and ride it to a ledge in the cliff where there is a Piece of Heart.
40. Requirements: Hookshot, Zora Mask, empty bottle from winning first race
    Go to Zora Cape and go to the farthest east point, where there is a waterfall. Go slightly to the north and use your hookshot on the palm tree on the ledge. Look across the river to see another palm tree. Use the hookshot on it. Continue using the hookshot on the palm trees to reach the top of the waterfall. Go into the cave there. As a Zora, swim to the beaver swimming around the water, then talk to the beaver when it goes to the bottom. Agree to do the race. The race is easiest on the First Day, and gets harder each day. Win the race once to get an empty bottle, then win it again to get a Piece of Heart.
41. Requirements: Gyorg Defeated, Hookshot
    After you defeat Gyorg in the Great Bay Temple, go to the middle of Great Bay Coast to find the fisherman's boat. Jump into the boat, then use your hookshot to reach the island where the fisherman is standing. Talk to the fisherman to play the game. Get a score of 20 or higher to get a Piece of Heart.
42. Requirements: Epona's Song, Garo's Mask, Hookshot, Postman's Hat
    Get the Postman's Hat, then check on any postbox in town to get a Piece of Heart.
43. Requirements: Epona's Song, Garo's Mask, Hookshot, Completed Anju and Kafei's Quest
    Wear the Couple's Mask in Doutour's office in the mayor's residence in East Clock Town.
44. Requirements: Epona's Song, Garo's Mask, Hookshot, Captain's Hat, Lens of Truth, Bomb/Blast Mask
    After you get the Captain's Hat, go to the Ikana Graveyard on the Second Night. Talk to Stalchild and tell it to open the grave. Go inside. Jump to the ledge with the Rupees, then use the Lens of Truth to see a door beyond a hidden wall that you can walk to from this ledge. Go through that door. In the next room, use the Lens of Truth to see the hidden monsters and ledges. Go to the end of the room and bomb the cracked wall to the left. Go through the door. Kill the Iron Knuckle in this room to get a Piece of Heart.
45. Requirements: Moon's Tear, Deku Mask, Zora Mask, Goron Mask, Epona's Song, Garo's Mask, Hookshot
    Go to the Observatory and use the telescope to zoom in to the top of the Clock Tower, then go outside to get the Moon's Tear that fell. Give the Moon's Tear to the Business Scrub in front of the Clock Tower. Then go to the Southern Swamp, wear the Deku Mask, and give the Land Title Deed to the Business Scrub next to the Swamp Tourist Center. Now take the Swamp Title Deed and go to the Mountain Village, and from there go to Goron Village. Find the Business Scrub in the southwest of the area and wear the Deku Mask give him the Swamp Title Deed to get the Mountain Title Deed. Then go to Zora Hall and wear the Zora Mask to get into Lulu's room. Wear the Goron Mask and give the Mountain Title Deed to the Business Scrub to get the Ocean Title Deed. Go to Ikana Canyon and go east to Sakon's Hideout. Wear the Zora Mask and give the Ocean Title Deed to the Business Scrub, then wear the Deku Mask and use the Deku Flower to reach the Piece of Heart on the platform.
46. Requirements: Epona's Song, Ice Arrows, Garo's Mask, Hookshot, 30 rupees
    Go to the upper part of Ikana Canyon and find the door in the northwest. This is the Spirit House. Go inside and pay 30 rupees to play the game. Kill the Poe Sisters within the time limit while having 3 full hearts or more, and you will get a Piece of Heart.
47. Requirements: Epona's Song, Garo's Mask, Hookshot, Ice Arrows
    In Ikana Castle, when you go to the roof, find the crystal switch, shoot it, then wear the Deku Mask to float from Deku Flower to Deku Flower and reach the chest at the end. It contains a Piece of Heart.
48. Requirements: Epona's Song, Zora Mask, Garo's Mask, Hookshot, Light Arrows
    In Ikana Canyon, put on the Zora Mask and get into the river. Swim West to reach a cave. Climb up on the ledge and go into the next cave. In the next room, shoot a Light Arrow at the sun above the locked door. In the next room, talk to the purple guy, then go through each of the doors in this room to fight a miniboss from a previous dungeon. After you have killed them all, go back to the middle room and the purple guy will give you a Piece of Heart.
49. Requirements: All four dungeon boss remains
    On the moon, there is a Piece of Heart in the Odolwa mini-dungeon.
