After releasing the souls in Dr. Leo's lab, you release Marie and get the Purple Stone and go to Magridd Castle.
The Torture Chamber
Go outside of the Magridd Shrine and go west from the blue tile to find some stairs. Go down to enter the Torture Chamber.
Go north along the ledge to find a Skeleton. Walk up to it to make it start moving. Clear its lair to reveal a treasure chest down below.
Go south and down the stairs, then go north along the lower area. There is a Spirit lair to the east, but you can't harm it with your current weapons. Continue going north, then go west and south to the treasure chest that you revealed earlier. It contains 80 GEMs. Beware of the Asp near the chest. It is not connected to a monster lair. There is also a Floor Stalker, which is a statue that spits out fireballs.
Go north from the chest and go up the stairs. There are four Skeletons in this area. Go up to them to wake them up, then kill them and clear their lair to release a soldier.
Go east until you reach a Skeleton lair. Clear it to reveal a chest that contains the Spirit Sword.
After you equip the sword, walk on the skeleton to the right. When you walk on the spot in front of the torch on the left, you discover a harp string.
You can now go back to the Light Shrine in GreenWood and use the Spirit Sword to kill the Fire Spirits in the Light Shrine. If you wear the Light Armor, the Fire Spirits can't hurt you. If you clear the Fire Spirit lair on the upper floor of the Light Shrine, you receive the Flame Pillar magic. lair on the lowest floor of the Light Shrine, you release a bird. To talk to the bird that you released, you have to approach it from behind. It will fly to the right of the Woodstin-Trio's stage, so walk behind the bird from there. The bird will give you the Red-Hot Mirror.
Back in the Torture Chamber, go south from where you got the Spirit Sword to find a Spirit lair. Clear it to lower the floor where you are standing. Walk to the left to avoid the Asp that slithers toward you. Then go north and west along the lower area. Clear the Skeleton Lair to create a shortcut to the west. Then go north to clear the Spirit lair that you couldn't clear earlier. You release a soldier.
Now go to the southeast corner of the area and go down the stairs.
Basement of the Castle
Go north. There are Magic Orbs here. They float in the air and will move at an angle toward you if you approach. Kill them and open the lair to remove the wall to the south, revealing Skeletons. Kill the southern Skeletons and clear their lair to release a soldier. However, the soul will float there because his body can't be restored yet.
Go north and kill the Skeletons and clear their lair to remove the wall to the south. A Magic Orb lair appears. Clear it to release a soldier.
Go south from the Magic Orb lair to find a Spirit lair between two Floor Stalkers. Clear the lair to release a singer.
Go north and then west. In the wider area of the path, there is a hidden chest with a Strange Bottle in it on the left side. Keep going west, then south to find a Spirit lair past some Asps. Clear the Spirit lair to release a soldier.
Go south past the Asps and clear the Skeleton lair to reveal two new lairs. They are both Spirit lairs. Clear the one on the right to release a soldier. Clear the one on the left to release another soldier.
Now you should go back outside. Find the sleeping soldier west of the soldier who says that he is related to Gaudi. Use the Dream Rod on the sleeping soldier. After the soldier wakes up, you get the Elemental Mail.
Go into the southwest house to find a soldier. This is the soldier who couldn't be recalled earlier, but now he is OK. Talk to the singer on the stage. The singer can't perform because the harp string is broken. If you found the harp string in the torture room, equip it and talk to the singer. If you don't have the string, go to where you found the Spirit Sword and walk on the skeleton to the right to find the harp string. After you give the harp string to the singer, he will say that Lisa took care of him in Grass Valley when he was injured. He plays the song that he wrote for her.
Go back to the Torture Chamber, then go to the southeast corner and go down the stairs to the basement of the castle. Go to the southwest corner of the area. There is a hidden chest in the corner northeast from the stairs that contains a Medical Herb. Now go east along a narrow path, then walk north along the path into a small room. You will walk into a hidden chest that contains 100 GEMs. There is a hidden path in the wall north of the chest, and if you go to the right, you find a Magic Orb lair. Clear it to release a Blue Crystal Fairy who tells you about invincible monsters.
Go to the southwest corner and down the stairs. Go north to find a Spirit lair near some Wall Spears. Clear the Spirit lair to release a maid.
Go north and you see some thorns in a diagonal line. Stand to the left of the leftmost thorns and walk north to find a hidden chest that contains The Master's Emblem B.
Now go east to find a Skeleton lair. Clear it to reveal thorns (equip the Elemental Mail to be safe from the thorns) and a Spirit lair. Clear that lair to create a blue warp tile back to the shrine.
Go east, then south, to find a Skeleton lair. Clear this lair to remove the thorns and reveal a Spirit lair. Clear that lair to release a soldier.
Go south to find a Magic Orb lair. Clear it to reveal thorns and Spirits. Clear the Spirit lair to release a singer.
Go south to find a Magic Orb lair near some Asps. Clear the lair to remove the wall, then run out of the way of the Asps. Go west, then north to some Wall Spears and a Magic Orb lair. Clear the Magic Orb lair to release a soldier who says that Dr. Leo is in the Left Tower.
Go north to find two Magic Orb lairs. Clear the left one to clear the path to the north. Clear the right one to release a soldier who is guarding the Left Tower. There are no more monster lairs here, so go back outside.
Get Access to the Left Tower
You can talk to the soldier guarding the Left Tower, but he says that you need a Platinum Card to go in. Go to the building in the southwest corner. Talk to the singer to make him sing. But if you haven't given the harp string to the singer, go to the Torture Room and go where you found the Spirit Sword. Walk on the skeleton to the right of the chest to find the harp string. Equip it and talk to the singer in the southwest building. He will sing and the soldier in the bottom-right corner will move toward the stage. Walk on the spot where the soldier was standing. You will get the Platinum Card. Equip it and talk to the soldier guarding the Left Tower.
The Left Tower
If you have the Recovery Sword (check the Metal Monster Locations page to learn how to get it) be sure to equip it when you reach level 22, if you haven't already.
As soon as you enter the tower, a purple Castle Guard attacks. It uses a sword. Kill the Castle Guards and open the lair to remove the Floor Stalker to the north.
Another Castle Guard comes down from where the Floor Stalker was. Kill it and the other Castle Guards to the north to remove the Floor Stalker to the left.
Go west to find Chess Horses. They can jump in an L-shaped path, and when they stop, they extend spikes from their necks. You can't hurt them while the spikes are out, but you can hurt them when the spikes are put away. Kill them and clear the lair to remove the Floor Stalker to the north.
Kill the Castle Guards to the north. Clear their lair to remove the Floor Stalkers to the left and right. Go to the right and kill the Elite Guards. These guards use boomerang-like blades to attack. Clear their lair to release a soldier. This soldier knows everything about Magridd Castle, so go to the soldier (in the building to the right of the green building) and talk to him. He is actually from the sky, and he will join you as the Soul of Reality.
You can return to the basement below the Torture Room to find the hidden paths. These paths were mentioned earlier on this page, in the Basement of the Castle section. When you are ready, go back to the northeast corner of the Left Tower 1F.
Go west from the northeast corner of the Left Tower and kill the Elite Guard. Clear its lair to remove the Floor Stalker to the south.
Go south and clear the Chess Knight lair to remove the Floor Stalker to the south.
Go south and clear the Castle Guard lair to remove the Floor Stalker to the east.
Go east and clear the Chess Knight lair to remove the Floor Stalker to the east.
Now go to the southwest corner of the area and go up the stairs.
The Left Tower, 2F
Go east and clear the Castle Guard lair to open a hidden path into the room to the east. Go into that room and kill the Elite Guards and clear their lair to release the Queen.
Leave the room and go north and clear the Elite Guard lair to open a hidden path into the room to the west. Go into that room and clear the Gorgon lair to release a maid.
Go to the northeast corner of the room and up the stairs.
Go south and clear the Gorgon lair to release a soldier.
Go west, then north, and kill the Castle Guards in the path between the prison cells. Clear their lair to remove the bars from the prison cells.
When you clear the southeast lair, you release a Blue Crystal Fairy. When you clear the southwest lair, you release Dr. Leo. When you clear the northwest and northeast lairs, you release soldiers.
Now go outside.
Get Access to the Right Tower
If you talk to the soldier in front of the Right Tower, he says you need a VIP Card. Go into the house south of the Right Tower and talk to the woman there. She is the Queen. Say Yes when she asks if you think that she is pretty. She will give you the VIP Card. Equip it and talk to the soldier in front of the Right Tower to go inside.
Go north and kill the Elite Guards and clear their lair to release a soldier.
Go to the southeast corner of this room and clear the Chess Knight lair to release a maid.
Go into the room in the middle of this area and clear the Gorgon lair to reveal a Castle Guard lair. Clear that lair to reveal an Elite Guard lair. Clear that lair to reveal another Elite Guard lair. Clear that lair to reveal a Chess Knight lair in the middle. Clear that lair to release a soldier.
Go up the invisible stairs to the northeast.
The Right Tower, 2F
Go east and south to find an Elite Guard lair. Beware of the Chest Mimics nearby. If you get close, they open up and attack. The Chest Mimics are not connected to a monster lair. Clear the Elite Guard lair to reveal two real chests. They both contain 80 GEMs.
Go south and clear the Chess Knight lair to release a soldier.
Go west and go into the hidden room in the middle. Go to the hidden lair and kill the Gorgon that comes out. Clear the lair to release a soldier.
Leave the hidden area and go northwest to the stairs. Go up.
The Right Tower, 3F
Go east and clear the Gorgon lair to reveal Floor Stalkers and an Elite Guard lair in the middle. Clear that lair to release a soldier.
Go west and clear the Chess Knight lair to reveal four chests and two Floor Stalkers. Two of the chests are fake Chest Mimics. The real ones are in the northwest and the southwest corner. The northwest chest contains 100 GEMs and the southeast chest contains a Medical Herb.
Go east and go up the stairs.
A Corridor to the Dock
Go north. The chest is a Chest Mimic. Go west from it and kill the Elite Guards in the hallway. There is another Chest Mimic in the southwest corner of the area. Clear the Elite Guard lair to reveal the airship dock. There is a blue tile here that you can use to go to the shrine. You can go talk to the people you released in town.
If you do go back outside, go up the eastern bridge to the castle, but don't go inside. Instead go west past the three pillars in front of the window. Go as far west as you can and you will find The Master's Emblem H.
Now go back to the airship dock. You can get there by going into the shrine and using the eastern tile. Go west from there and through the door. Go south and talk to the soldier if you want, then go west across the bridge and talk to Dr. Leo. A cut scene will begin. When Leo asks you to stand behind him, walk to the right so you are behind him. He gives you something and tells you to get on the airship. After this, watch the next scene, then talk to Leo.
If you wish, you can go back outside and go into the house where you met the Queen earlier. Check the spot that she was standing on and you will find the Invulnerable Bracelet, also known as the Super Bracelet, which increases your defense and your power.
Go back to the Airship dock. Then equip the Airship Key that Dr. Leo gave you and go onto the ship. Go north and walk up to the wheel to use the key. The Airship will take off and you have to fight the boss, Demon Bird.
The Demon Bird has two movement patterns. It will float for a moment at the upper left or upper right, then it will either fly diagonally toward you, or it will fly from one side to the other while spitting fire downward toward you. You can hit the bird when it flies diagonally toward you, but it can be difficult to avoid getting hurt because the wind is constantly pushing you downward. You can stand above the steering wheel of the ship or above the structure in the middle, or you can hide behind the wheel or south of the middle structure to avoid getting pushed by the wind.
My strategy is to stand below the middle structure on the ship where the wind doesn't push me, and hold L or R to point the sword straight ahead. When the bird flies at an angle toward me, I walk south while still pointing the sword north. That way I move downward and avoid damage but still stay close enough to hit the bird with the pointing sword. It will take a while, but repeat this strategy until the Demon Bird is defeated.
Go to the south end of the ship and stand on the cleared monster lair to release King Magridd.
Walk up to the wheel of the ship to land the ship at the dock. Leave the ship and talk to Lisa. Answer her question, then go northeast to leave the area.
Get the Black Stone
Go outside and go into the middle entrance of the castle. Talk to King Magridd. He gives you the Black Stone.
Now return to the shrine and step on the upper tile. Choose Move, and press left to go to the World of Evil.
