Relocator: What it Is and How to Use It

In Pokémon Black and White, the Relocator is a special menu option that allows you to transfer special event pokémon from HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum into your Pokémon Black or White game. With these event pokémon, you can obtain Zorua and Zoroark in your game. In order to use the Relocator, you must have two Nintendo DS systems.

Unlocking the Relocator

To unlock the Relocator option in your game menu, you must go to Castelia City. Go to the road that is just south of the entrance to Route 4, and go into the building on the left side of the road. Go up to 11F and talk to the scientist on the right side of the room. He will say that he can unlock something for you if you tell him the password. Here are the words that you must use when he asks:

English

After giving him the password, the scientist will tell you to save your game and turn it off, and then the next time that you play, the Relocator option will be in your menu.

Preparing your Pokémon to be Sent Over

You can only send specific pokémon to your Black or White game via the Relocator. These pokémon are:

  • Shiny Raikou, Entei, and Suicune from the Pokémon event distributions
  • Celebi from the Pokémon event distributions

In addition, there is an item called a Lock Capsule that has not been distributed yet, but when it is, it can also be sent to your Black or White game using the Relocator. You can take this Lock Capsule to Mr. Lock, who is in the same building as the scientist who unlocked the Relocator for you.

These pokémon must be in your PC Box in your HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum game in order to be sent over, NOT in your party. If they are in your party, the Relocator won't be able to detect them.

Also, the held items cannot be transfered. If a pokémon that you attempt to transfer is holding an item, you will be prompted to put the held item into your bag in the game that you are transferring from.

In summary, be sure to put the to-be-transferred pokémon into the PC Box of the game that you are transferring from.

Sending your Pokémon to Black or White

As mentioned above, you must have two DS systems in order to use the relocator. If you don't own two of your own, you will have to borrow a DS from someone.

Step 1: Put your Pokémon Black or White cartridge into one of the DS systems. Put your HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum cartridge into the other. Turn on both systems, but don't start your HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum game.

Step 2: In Pokémon Black or White, go to the menu where you can choose your save file, and press the down button until you reach the Relocator option. Choose that option.

Step 3: The Relocator will ask you if you want to launch wireless communications. Say Yes.

Step 4: In the DS that has your HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum game, go to the DS menu (the menu that shows up before you actually start up the DS game.) Choose DS Download Play from the DS menu. Choose to download the Relocator. Be sure to choose the one whose number matches the one listed on the Pokémon Black or White screen. This will make sure that you connect to the correct game in the event that someone else is using his or her own Relocator nearby.

Step 5: In the Pokémon Black or White game, it will say how many transferrable pokémon it found. If it doesn't detect any, then make sure that they are in the PC Box of that game, rather than in your party, and make sure that they are the pokémon from the correct distribution event. Once it detects transferrable pokémon, it will ask you if you want to transfer them to your game. Say yes. If these pokémon have any held items, it will say that the held items will be put into your Bag in your HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum game. Say Yes to confirm that this is OK with you. The Relocator will then transfer the pokémon and save the game on each of the two cartridges.

Step 6: Your HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum game will tell you to turn off the power, so do that. Then, you can turn off the power on your Pokémon Black or White game. Your transferred pokémon will now be in your PC Box in your Black or White game.

Obtaining Zorua

If you transferred the event Celebi to your Pokémon Black or White game, do the following steps to obtain Zorua:

Step 1: Put Celebi in your party, and leave at least one empty slot in your party.

Step 2: If you don't have any Poké Balls of any type, go get one. It can be any type.

Step 3: Go to the Game Freak building in Castelia City. Talk to the woman in the lobby and she will ask you to talk to the boy next to her, because he is lonely. When you talk to him, he will reveal that he is actually Zorua in disguise. Celebi will come out of its pokéball and interact with Zorua. The woman will say that Zorua wants to be with Celebi, and will ask you to take Zorua with you.

Step 4: If you don't have an empty spot in your party, the woman will say that you need to have one. Go to the Pokémon Center and make room for Zorua, who will still be there waiting for you. Once you have an empty spot in your party, the woman will ask you if you have a pokéball, and you will automatically be sent to your bag. Choose a pokéball from your bag, and Zorua will go into the pokéball and join your party. The woman will then depart, feeling relieved that Zorua is in your care.

Obtaining Zoroark

Once you have a shiny Entei, Suicune, or Raikou from the distribution events in your Pokémon Black or White game, you can catch Zoroark in Lostlorn Forest. This location can be reached after you fight Cheren on route 4 and talk to Professor Juniper in the entrance to Nimbasa City. Lostlorn Forest is accessible from route 16, which is northeast of Nimbasa City.
