Teaching Your Puppy Tricks

In Nintendogs + Cats, you can teach your puppy tricks. These tricks can be taught using the stylus and microphone, and the tricks can be used to help you win the obedience contest.

Tutorial Slideshows

In Nintendogs + Cats, you can view tutorial slideshows that tell you how to teach your puppy each trick. To view the slideshows, tap on your puppy's picture in the bottom screen, then tap on the brown button for your puppy's information screen, then tap Tricks. You can see all of the tutorial slideshows here. You can also delete the tricks from this screen, which is useful if you're having trouble getting your puppy to respond, or if you have forgotten what command you said or how you said it.

List of Tricks

Here is a partial list of the tricks that you can teach your puppy.

Trick Name Trick Description How to Teach It
Sit down Your puppy goes from a standing to a seated position. When your puppy is standing up, tap on the screen near the top so that the pointing blue hand appears, then move the hand in a straight line toward the bottom of the screen.
Right paw Your puppy lifts its right paw and holds it up. First, get your puppy to sit down. Then, put your stylus on the puppy's right paw. The puppy will lift its paw.
Left paw Your puppy lifts its left paw and holds it up. First, get your puppy to sit down. Then, put your stylus on the puppy's left paw. The puppy will lift its paw.
Lie down Your puppy lies down with its tummy on the ground.
Play dead Your puppy lies down on its side.
Spin Your puppy spins in a circle. Use the control pad to move the camera so that you're behind your puppy. Then, hold a dog treat low to the ground near the puppy's feet. Wave the treat from side to side until the puppy spins around.
Roll over Your puppy rolls onto its back.
Sit up
